Topic-icon Problem with Social login and auto-assign to easysocial group

If a user signs up using JFBconnect, it isn't auto-assigning the user to an Easysocial Group (as configured in Easysocial). If a user signs up via the registration form they are getting assigned to the group automatically.

Is it possible that JFBconnect is ignoring something when the social login occurs? Does it trigger the normal Easysocial functions of a new user?

JFBConnect will assign the user to the default EasySocial group when they register. We don't currently look at other settings within EasySocial for registration groups, and I'm honestly not sure what setting/feature you're looking at. Does EasySocial let you put social network registrations into a different group than 'normal' users? Is that an EasySocial group, or a Joomla group?

Any details you can provide will help us investigate further. Also, please post from the account you subscribed to JFBConnect from. It helps us look up your subscription details easier.

Thanks,
Alex

JFBConnect is assigning the user to the default Easysocial User Group but within that profile type there is the option to auto-assign a user to a "Group". On Easysocial, these groups are like Facebook Groups in which there are members to these groups. Easysocial allows you to assign new registered website users to be auto-assigned to "Groups" you want them to be part of.

This setting can be found here: Easysocial > Profiletypes > Groups > Default Groups

And this is what Easysocial says about it "This feature allows you to automatically assign users that signs up with this profile type to join the group automatically."

I hope this explains it better.

We'll have to look into that setting further. I haven't seen it or heard of any other users who have requested that feature. Can you let me know a few more things:
* Are you using the Automatic Registration feature in JFBConnect?
* If you disable Automatic Registration and set the "Registration Component" to "EasySocial" and then register using the EasySocial flow with our social networks, let us know if that does what you're looking for.

Finally, again, please post from the account you subscribed to JFBConnect from.

Thanks,
Alex

Ok. I'm now logged in with the main rvpoints account for support questions....

Regarding automatic registration, yes I do have it turned on and set to JFBConnect. When I turn off automatic registration and set it to Easysocial.....it doesn't give me the proper registration flow. Registration isn't the issue. It's what happens after registration.

Registration isn't the issue. It's what happens after registration.

It's all related. What you're looking to have happen takes place directly after the registration process, from what I can understand. I still need to investigate the setting more, but if it's not related to registration somehow, please let me know more details.

When I turn off automatic registration and set it to Easysocial.....it doesn't give me the proper registration flow.

What registration flow do you get? Are you getting the EasySocial registration flow or going to a different page? If you have the "Registration Component" option set to "EasySocial", you should be going through the standard EasySocial registration screens with some data pre-filled with the user's social network settings. If you're not seeing that, let us know what you're seeing as we'll need to understand why that's not working (it may be related to the problem).

Thanks,
Alex

JFBConnect registration is working fine. It is what happens afterwards. The user is getting added to the Easysocial User Group that is the default User Group.

As I've said in a previous reply, you'll need to look at this setting in Easysocial:

This setting can be found here: Easysocial > Profiletypes > Groups > Default Groups

And this is what Easysocial says about it "This feature allows you to automatically assign users that signs up with this profile type to join the group automatically."

Easysocial groups are similar to Facebook Groups. For example, you might create a group called "Best Rock Bands" and then have users signup to that interest group forum. And as an admin you can make users be auto-assigned to these interest groups automatically.

Setting the Automatic Registration to Easysocial makes the process harder....and not what I want. I like the JFBConnect process of the one click on Facebook login and then the redirect to the Easysocial page.
