I've installed the package (latest Joomla 3.4.8 and brand new version of JFBConnect), enabled all pertinent plugins, cleared all the API stuff. Enabled the FB login. Logged In on FB. User is listed and association complete between FB user and Joomla user.

Signed out, signed back in again successfully.

In setting up a channel, I hit "select a user". My joomla user is listed on a large white page. I an select it, but there is no confirmation button and no response when I select it.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Ben

The page shouldn't look like that. There should be a popup that displays. Can you let us know what version of Joomla you're using?

If you are using a custom or 3rd party administrator template, please try switching back to the default Joomla admin template as well to see if that makes things work better. It could be that a necessary Javascript file isn't loading.

Thanks,
Alex

I'm running Joomla 3.4.8 and the latest version of JFBConnect. The admin template is: isis. For kicks I tried admin template: Hathor. Both have the same problem.

I am running RocketTheme main template - though I can't see how that would be a problem, given that signing in is fine and the connection between Joomla user and FB user is made.

I'm unsure as well. Would it be possible to private message me admin credentials so we can get in and take a look? You can PM me by clicking the mail icon under my name to the left.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks Alex,

I tried Firefox and found it did not have the same issue. The user select function appears to be working on that browser. Was using Safari before.

Can you point me to a "standard" installation of your C/M/P package - explaining what is what and how it is controlled? I'm having a problem envisioning how all these pieces work together. A demonstration site that explains what the modules look like would particularly help. For example, I see the share and like buttons floating at the bottom of this window on this page. I want that! Which module does this? Is it the find us or the social share modules? Both have the floating parameters, though I can't get anything to happen on Safari. On Firefox, I see a floating set of boxes with: Social Meta, Preview and Create Post - but on the left hand side rather than the right hand side (this despite setting the left right float parameter to 3001).

These things get very complicated when I can't tell if I've set them up properly, or if there are errors in the way that they work on a browser (as above).

Know what I mean?

Please advise how I can make sense of all this.

Very best,
Ben

Strange. Not sure why Safari wouldn't work, but hopefully you got things setup now.

All of our features are called out in our documentation www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/
In general, we have just a few groups of plugins and modules:
* Social Profile plugins - these are to import data into various 3rd party extensions
* Open Graph plugins - these automatically set the meta tags on your page in some 3rd party extensions to customize the preview when a page is shared in a social network.
* JFBCSocialShare - This is what shows the sharing features, and what we use in the bottom right floating on our page
* SCSocialFindUs - An easy way to add links to your Facebook Page, Twitter feed, etc
* SCSocialStream - Shows the feed from channel(s) you've configured
* SCSocialWidget - Configures and shows ~40 different widgets from all of the social networks we support.

Both have the floating parameters, though I can't get anything to happen on Safari. On Firefox, I see a floating set of boxes with: Social Meta, Preview and Create Post - but on the left hand side rather than the right hand side (this despite setting the left right float parameter to 3001).

First, it sounds like Safari is automatically blocking some of our Javascript. I'm not sure if that's a security setting or what, but that's not common. I'd recommend using Firefox until you determine the Safari setting that's causing those issues.

The Social Meta / Preview / Create Post is our Social Toolbar. It's automatically displayed to admins when they login. It's not either the SCSocialFindUs or JFBCSocialShare module. If you don't want the social toolbar to show even to admins, you can disable it in the JFBConnect -> Configuration area.

I hope that helps explain more, but if you need anything else, just let me know.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks Alex,

This information is helpful.

Couple of questions:

1. I'm running PHP 5.3 temporarily as I update my ancient Joomla 1.5 sites. Could this play a part in any of this?

2. JFBCSocialShare - I can't get this to show up at all, on any browser. Can you give me a checklist of how this should be set up?

FYI, I have reviewed your documentation, though it's possible I missed some things...

Best,

Ben

No. This is an issue with loading the proper Javascript into your browser. The PHP version doesn't affect this.

2. JFBCSocialShare - I can't get this to show up at all, on any browser. Can you give me a checklist of how this should be set up?

That module has documentation for each of the parameters that should explain things. The most common issue that most users run into is that they set it to 'Float' but don't assign it to a module position or menu item. Even though it's meant to float, you need to put it in a module position that would display on the page and set a menu item (or 'All') that it should show on.

If that doesn't help, please let us know how you have it configured and a URL where we can see things not working.

Thanks,
Alex
