I'll look into the best way to remove that tag. Can you let me know what you think is happening to your Google ranking because of that tag? That tag is only used by Facebook and Google when sharing content. Open Graph tags are not used by any search engines that I've heard of and, therefore, shouldn't be affecting your SEO at all.

I'd love to hear more information on your test and what you've found.

Thanks,
Alex

JUST SEE THIS:

Google use OGT tags!!! I'm not add sitename in Joomla settings!!! This is add only when i'm use your component, because your component add "sitename" for OPG!!!

You can see TITLE on this page , and see - this is without Sitename, but Google add sitename, because this page use "OG:Sitename"!!!

all positions of my site is down in Google search, when i'm use OG:Sitename!!! If i'm delete OG:Sitename, my site UP in Google search.

I'm say about this 1 year ago!!!!! When you not delete this OG- tag???? My site is down in Google search again and again, when google see OG:Sitename, because this is tag need only for sites, who use Title+Sitename.

i'm not use Sitename in Joomla settings! You need to know it. You need delete OG:Sitename for people who not use Title+Sitename in Joomla settings!!!

Alexandr,
On the page you showed an image from "G-Unit - Watch Me", the following meta tags are in the page:
<meta name="keywords" content="G-Unit, Watch, Me" />
  <meta name="description" content="G-Unit - Watch Me" />
  <meta name="generator" content="Joomla! - Open Source Content Management" />
  <title>G-Unit - Watch Me</title>
The title is what Google, and other search engines, will use. I'm not sure why you believe that the og:site_name tag is being used for the title, when the meta title is already set to that value.

Either way, to remove the og:site_name tag, you'll need to edit the /libraries/sourcecoast/openGraph.php file. Around line 225, you'll see:
$siteName = OpenGraphUtilities::getCurrentSiteNameTag();
        $this->addDefaultGraphTag('og:site_name', $siteName, PRIORITY_NORMAL);
Delete those 2 lines and the tag won't be included any more.

Again, we don't have any plans to add an option to disable the tag. It's never been a problem for any other user and I haven't seen any documentation anywhere by any search engine that they use the og:site_name tag to create the title for a page.

I hope the above helps,
Alex

Sorry, I just noticed your search results page which show Eminem50cent.ru in the title. I'm not sure why that's being used and, again, I haven't seen anything from any search engine saying that they specifically use og tags for search results, though its their choice too. I don't know why that would impact your rankings.

From this post about Open Graph tags, the site_name tag is specifically meant to be be the site's title and *can* be used by the consumer (search engines, Facebook, etc) to obtain and present more information about your page, like in a title by providing the source of the content (your site name).

One final suggestion, if you don't want to make the code modification above, is changing the Joomla -> Global Configuration "Site Name" option to what you may want to see as your site name (instead of the domain name).

I hope that helps,
Alex

Google really use OG:SItename for add "Sitename" to TITLE. I'm read many Russian forums and site admins have this problem, who install on Joomla/Wordpress/etc modules for Open Graph Tags! This is confirmed many people on forums.

AND og:site_name NOT REQUIRED tag! please add option for "off" this tag in JFB settings! all positions of my site and sites of another people is down in Google search, after we add OG:Sitename for pages!

THIS IS NOT REQUIRED TAG! My site about 7 years in Google search, and only in 2013 or 2014 all positions is down in Google search, after i'm install your component! This is very bad! Please add option for "off" this tag!

OK! If people use "on" for "Title+Sitename" in Joomla settings, you add this tag, BUT if people not use "Title+Sitename" in Joomla settings, you not add this tag! Because, you lie people! You add this tag "og:sitename" whatever people use or not "sitename" in Joomla settings!!!!!!!

i'm really hate, when someone think, what his can be a GOD in my SEO site settings... :(
