Thanks man. As usual: stella service. Am going to take the plunge and install on the live site. I don't have a lot of people registering and logging in (unfortunately) so I can take the 'risk' so to speak. Think it should work fine. I just have to reduce the registration experience to one page.

Thanks again and I'll certainly let you know if I have any other questions.

Glad to help, as always. One thing to note is a bug with our EasySocial integration for creating the default avatar and cover photo albums. There's a (pretty) easy fix you can find in this thread . We'll of course be including that in the next update as well, planned for late next week.

As always, should you need anything else, just let us know!

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
Have installed EasySocial on my live site now and I notice that I no longer get the signup fields on the right when I click the login button. I also don't see the FB and Google login buttons on the signup page.

This is how it looks on my test site: screencast.com/t/tNdl0vuIL8
This is how it looks on my live site: screencast.com/t/DXvqLlLcb

On both sites there are no JFBconnect buttons if a user clicks the "Signin" button. screencast.com/t/zfD2rDk5bBb

Can you help me identify what configuration settings I may have messed up?

BTW. It's the same login info for the backend for my test and live sites.

I'm not sure what's going on there that's different. On your live site, I see you're using EasySocial 1.2.8. On the dev site, you're using 1.2.7. I'd suggest upgrading the dev site to see if 1.2.8 is behaving badly.

Those buttons should show automatically, I believe, when the JFBConnect integration is enabled in EasySocial.. as it is on your sites. Beyond that, check your /templates/<YOUR_TEMPLATE>/html/com_easysocial folder(s) to see if you have any template overrides on either site. If so, it's possible those are conflicting with (or adding) the social buttons, depending on which site has the overrides.

I hope that helps get you started, but obviously keep us posted.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
The StackIdeas guys seem to have sorted out why the buttons weren't appearing on the "signup" part (right hand side) of the login page. So far so good.

My remaining problem is that if a user clicks the signup button (I have separate login and signup buttons) they go to a page dedicated to creating a new account. This is how it was set up with jomsocial and I believe is fairly standard practice.

But on this page the jfbconnect buttons do not appear. See screencast.com/t/bdKUOsEm
Or click the Signup button on top right hand of this page to see for yourself: goodtalktnt.com

The Stackideas guys don't seem to think these buttons are necessary on this page for some reason, but say that if I insist on having them present I should activate a module called "EasySocial Oauth" which doesn't seem to have anything to do with JFBconnect.

Would appreciate your insight on how this is supposed to work. I use a php login module (installed by a developer) and I'm not sure how this impacts things. Please let me know if you think it best to disable this php login module. I would be happy to use the same login screen just without the login side. See screencast.com/t/SFkqFlSI6MFs

Thanks for your help.

Seems the signup fields on the login page lead to the "Signup" page anyway (as I guess it should) so ignore " I would be happy to use the same login screen just without the login side. See screencast.com/t/SFkqFlSI6MFs " above. I need to get that page working with JFBConnect.

For what it's worth, I think it makes sense to have the JFBConnect appear on the top of signup page instead of at the bottom; especially if there are a lot of fields for a user to fill in if they are creating a completely new account manually. Better user experience. Doesn't make a difference if they are at the bottom when there are only 3 fields to fill in. As the choice is still immediately clear (above the fold).

I don't know off-hand how to add those fields to the registration flow page, though I can look into it. There's a few things to be aware of here though:
1) The buttons should be showing on the page that leads the user to that signup page. That's why StackIdeas likely doesn't think it's necessary.. if a user makes it to that page, they've already chosen a link like "Register for this site" and could have chosen the FB or G+ button instead.
2) Adding the buttons may be difficult.. that page is dynamically generated based on whatever registration fields and pages you've created. I'm not sure how to add it to just the first page, if that'd be the only one you want to add it to.. I can look though, but don't have an answer off-hand, and it may take some investigation. That may also be something that StackIdeas can tell you the proper template file for.

As for the Left or Right hand form in the pictures above, those views are completely created by EasySocial. We don't have any control over them. They are adding our social login buttons to them.. those aren't pages that JFBConnect is creating though.

I hope that helps explain a bit more. Let me know how we can help if you want us to investigate #2 above.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
The problem I'm having is explaining that the way the login and signup buttons are designed on my site means that not everyone will be funnelled through the login page which has the add new account and social login buttons. People may click the signup button directly. This was how it was arranged when I had JomSocial so I'm having difficulty understanding why this is so difficult.

I also need to get this resolved expeditiously. What do you recommend I do?

Perhaps leave it the way it is and have people just link their FB or Google accounts at some later time when they are logging in?
