Hi,
I am using Joomla 2.5.18 and JFBConnect 6.0.

I have set up a channel for a user who is the owner/manager of the Facebook app, but I don't get the option that you are suggesting.

1st - In the Channel options, there is no Facebook Page in the Dropdown
2nd - In the documentation it talks about a Manager "Once setup, any managers on your site with the permission to create social posts will have a new toolbar in the bottom left of every page they visit on your site. When they click the "Create Post" button, they will see a list of configured Channels and a message box. Simply add a comment, select the channels and push the "Post" button for that content to be pushed to each network."- what is one and where do I get access to it
3rd - Is it possible to set up a user that any site user can post as, or can any user be set with the access to post using this feature.

Sorry for the confusion. We definitely need to elaborate on the Channels documentation. We're hoping to have it all complete by the end of the month with more information and pictures. As to your specific questions:
1) After you select a User in the Facebook Page area you need to hit "Save". Then, login on the front-end as that user using Facebook. An additional permission will be requested of that user for managing their pages. Accept that permission.
Go back to the Channel configuration page and edit the channel again. Now, the drop-down should be populated with Channels that that user can post to.
2) I'm not sure what you're asking here. When you are logged in as a super admin, in the bottom left of any page, you should see 2 buttons for "Social Meta Tags" and "Create Post". The Create Post button is how you can create a post to one of the channels you created in #1.

In the JFBConnect main admin page, if you click the "Permissions" button, you can set which user groups can create posts by changing the "Post on Social Network" permission.
3) Any user *group* can be configured to allow posting as described above. Right now, it's primarily meant for managers of your site, but you could allow all users to see the toolbar if you want. It would be creating posts to the Facebook Page or Twitter streams you've setup though, which could lead to some posts you may not want there.

Also, if you haven't seen it, our JFBConnect v6 Release blog post has some images of the social toolbar and general pictures of the channels that may help.

I hope that helps explain, but if not, let me know.
Alex

I tried to get this working, but I can't - I set the Facebook Type to Page, and added my user id - when I then saved and logged into front end, no extra box appeared and the page dropdown was not visible.

I changed the Post on social to all registered users and the boxes arrived as you said - is there anyway that the social tags box can be removed as my users wouldn't want to see that - they would only want the create post - Also is it possible the create post feature could be aligned to a webpage or pages (similar to how a module allocation works?)

Thanks

I'm not sure why you wouldn't be seeing the extra permission when you login. It would only be the first time you login using Facebook after you've saved that setting though, not every time. If you can't see the Pages drop-down though, that means it's not working.

Can you login to Facebook with the account you've set for your Channel and go to:
www.facebook.com/settings?tab=applications
Then, find your app and click "Edit". See if the "This app can also" section lists "Manage your pages". That will help narrow down what may be the cause. We haven't heard of this issue from other users, but the Channels feature is still very new (and not well enough documented yet.. we're working on it), so there could be some kinks to work out.

I changed the Post on social to all registered users and the boxes arrived as you said - is there anyway that the social tags box can be removed as my users wouldn't want to see that - they would only want the create post - Also is it possible the create post feature could be aligned to a webpage or pages (similar to how a module allocation works?)

Right now, that would take a very minor code change to hide the Social Tags button. There currently isn't a way to assign the "Create Post" button to a module position, though we're planning more flexibility for user administration and positioning in the future.

Let me know if you'd like the code change to hide the button, but I'd rather get the button working first before you try to customize it much.

Thanks,
Alex
