I just tried to register on your site. The first time I registered with Facebook, after hitting 'Register' on the page with my name and username, I was brought to an error page in JomSocial that my User Id couldn't be found.

I then went back to the homepage and clicked the Facebook login button again and was logged in properly.

I'm not sure why the initial registration threw the error, but that may be part of the problem.

Can you let me know:
1) Do you have the "Always Import Profile" setting enabled in the Profiles area? If not, please try to enable it and see if the cover photo is imported on a return visit
2) Can you tell me what Authentication and User plugins you have enabled? One of them may have prevented our full registration process from completing, and could be the cause of the error not importing
3) Can you check you're tmp director for a file named sccover_facebookXYZ.jpg (where XYZ is a number)? If it exists, let me know if it's your cover photo (or mine). That would indicate there was a problem copying the photo within your filesystem.

I hope that helps get you started,
Alex

The picture of the baby was my cover photo from when I logged in.

With that information, it means that:
* Communication with Facebook is working
* The photo is properly downloading to your site
* Something is going wrong when:
** Copying the file to the user's JomSocial cover photo directory
** Telling JomSocial to use that new cover photo.

Can you check that the permissions on the following directory are correct for writing a file to it:
/images/cover/profile/<YOUR JOOMLA USER ID>/
Then, in that directory, check if there are any JPG files. One should be your cover photo from Facebook.

If the correct cover photo is there, please try deleting it and then logging in again to see if the cover is updated properly.

Let me know how that goes,
Alex

For the Requests issue, can you let us know where you have the Requests configured so we can try to send one?

Thanks,
Alex

the request is on the homepage right under the navigation menu..

the blue & white image that says invite Invite Friends With Facebook: thats what i push & the box comes up…

the backend says it sent but none of my friends are getting any request:

also why does it say we can only send 50 request: does that mean we can open the box & send 50 at a time or my users can on send 50 TOTAL??

I see the request in Facebook, please see the picture below:
File Attachment:

I'm not sure why your friends wouldn't have received it. It worked without a hitch for me and showed up immediately after sending it. Can you make sure your friends have checked their notification area?

also why does it say we can only send 50 request: does that mean we can open the box & send 50 at a time or my users can on send 50 TOTAL??

Facebook sets that limit. It's based on many different factors including who is sending the requests and the site they are being sent from. For instance, if your site is known to be sending a lot of 'spammy' requests, the number will be lower. 50, I believe, is the highest number you can get, so that's a good thing. The 50 requests is per person for a period of time (I believe about 24 hours), and that's meant to limit repeated or excessive requests in a short period of time.

do you have specific permissions that need to be set??? i have no clue what i'm doing: i;m talking to hostgator to help me: can't you guys take my hostgator login & fix the issue: i am a professional stage Modle i have NO CLUE how to build a website:

We can't just 'fix' it for you. I'm not sure what the issue is. We develop extensions, we're not server managers or site developers. Unfortunately, for a $60 subscription, we can't ensure your Joomla site is configured correctly, but we'll gladly help provide advice where possible.

For the permissions, I don't know what the right settings are. Hostgator should know. You need to have permission for Apache to write to the directory I posted above. Since JFBConnect can already write to the /tmp directory, the cover photo directory should have the same permissions.

As I asked above though, what files exist in the cover photo directory? Do you see the cover photo from Facebook in that directory for your user? If yes, then, if you delete it, does that file re-appear when you re-login with Facebook and/or is your JomSocial cover photo properly updated?

Thanks,
Alex
