Sorry to hear you're running into a few issues. Hopefully I can help resolve things for you:
500 - An error has occurred. XML file did not load
I'm not sure why that's happening. I'd recommend the following:
* Re-install JFBConnect. That will update all your files automatically and you will *not* lose any configuration information.
* If that doesn't work, please disable any plugins in the socialprofiles plugin group and re-enable them one by one and test which one is causing the issue. Let us know, and we'll gladly help resolve the problem.
Also I am using CB but I dont think it is configured correctly. I receive an error message page after registering through CB.
42 - Failed to update contact: COM_CONTACT_ERROR_UNIQUE_ALIAS
This is caused if you have the User - Contact Creator plugin enabled and is a bug in Joomla. When you create and then delete a user in Joomla, a 'Contact' is created for them. When you re-register a user with the same email address, that error is created. I'd recommend disabling that plugin as 99.9% of sites actually don't want it's functionality (and it's disabled in Joomla by default).
Also I dont know what plugins I should have enabled.
It depends. The only required plugins to enable are the JFBConnect Authentication, System and User plugins. You can enable the Content plugin for the social buttons in your Joomla content and any social-profile plugins for extensions that you want to import user information into.
