Hi there,

I am trying to use the menu that you have actually used on your site when logged in. On your site it is called 'MyAccount' I have similar on my site called 'MyHub'... My Hub is a menu, however it does not seem to allow the dropdown to show the menu items, like it does on your site. I have enabled 'dropdown' in the settings of the module. If i switch it to list, I see all of the items and can click them. However 'list' is not suitable.

Do you have any ideas on how to get this to work?

Regards

Graeme

Graeme,
The SCLogin module drop-down menu uses the Bootstrap Javascript and CSS to create that effect. I'd start by trying to enable the "Include jQuery" setting in the Configuration -> Misc area of JFBConnect. Hopefully, that's all there is to it.

Also, please note that the menu in our top right is using the SCLogin module, but our template applies special styles to it to make it look like that. We can help you try to achieve the same 'blended' effect if you'd like as well, but lets get the drop-down working first. For a better example of what the default user menu looks like, see our Improved Joomla Login JED listing. The last image in there shows the default look for the User Menu.

I hope that helps explain and get you going,
Alex

Hi Alex,

Thanks for your reply. I checked the settings in Configuration -> Misc area of JFBConnect and jQuery was already set to yes or enabled...

What would be the next step for this?

Graeme,
I've been looking, but I'm really not sure what's happening there. There's some sort of Javascript conflict that's preventing the Bootstrap library we include for creating that dropdown menu. The style of .sourcecoast .dropdown-menu should be changed from display:none to display:inline.

We'll need to narrow things down as to what may be causing the conflict. The first area of investigation would be your template itself. It's already including another Javascript file called "dropdown.js" as well as some others that may be the problem. Can you try (temporarily) switching to one of the built-in Joomla templates, or any other ones, and check if the drop-down works there?

Let us know how that goes as it will narrow down where the problem is and we can start determining what to test next to narrow things down further.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

I have just tried three different templates with it and I get the same result.

Graeme,
Thanks for testing that. Can you try disabling the Widgetkit plugin, temporarily, and see if that helps? I know that's caused conflicts in the past, but our new jQuery inclusion shouldn't have problems with it. That's the next best thing to test to narrow things down.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

I passed this on to the developer who works with my site. He enabled no conflict plugins, disabled almost everything that uses JQuery, move positions, tried templates and cannot get that drop down to work. He also said there is not a single error related to JQuery in either Google dev tools or Firefox Firebug.

Graeme,
I just tested again on your site, and it looks like you found another drop-down menu module to use. I'm sorry you couldn't get SCLogin's drop-down to work. We are investigating if there are any compatibility improvements we can make, but I'm still unsure why it wasn't working on your site. It was bizarre, we'll agree, since there were no Javascript errors or other notices to help us narrow things down.

If you'd like us to diagnose things more, feel free to enable the SCLogin module with drop-down on some interior page that we can test with and we'll gladly investigate further.

Thanks,
Alex
