Hi Alex, like the progress with the product.
I actually have three issues.and i am not sure if they are related.
First, in trying to set up the google Client ID Settings and the Authorized Redirect URIs, I do not get the second part of the url, only the domain. thus, the google button appears on the site but cannot press on it thus, nobody can login with google..
Here is a video that explains the problem.

Second, after finishing the google setup, i tried logging into the site via facebook and i received this 404 url www.bayoubuzz.com/index.php?option=com_j...w==&cb=1378686257477
(not quite sure why it is joomla unfriendly urls)

the third issue also deals with google. I have enabled the google plus button for the site, but, it does not appear on the site. That actually has been an issue before my trying to set up the google login.
Thanks,
S.

For the Google App configuration, if you haven't already, look through the text config guide as well. Specifically, for that popup in the Google App Area at the beginning of the video, you need to change the URLs shown to:
http://<yourdomain>/index.php?option=com_jfbconnect&task=authenticate.callback&provider=google
You can't leave it with the /oauth2callback at the end.

Second, after finishing the google setup, i tried logging into the site via facebook and i received this 404 url www.bayoubuzz.com/index.php?opti … 8686257477
(not quite sure why it is joomla unfriendly urls)

That's the 'old' login URL from previous versions. You need to make sure your browser is loading our latest Javascript or, if you are using a CDN or something to cache your pages, make sure that is cleared.

the third issue also deals with google. I have enabled the google plus button for the site, but, it does not appear on the site. That actually has been an issue before my trying to set up the google login.

We've seen this on a few sites and are trying to diagnose the cause for the upcoming v5.1.2 release later this week.

I hope that above helps,
Alex

Stephen,
Glad to hear that got you going. If you have any feedback on our videos or documentation to make things clearer, please let us know. We're in the process of overhauling our documentation area right now, actually, so your feedback will greatly help us and others.

For the G+1, we're hopeful we'll narrow down what's wrong soon. It doesn't affect every site, but definitely enough to make us scratch our heads and want to get to the bottom of it. As mentioned, we're shooting for v5.1.2 later this week, but it may slip to next week while we're working on things.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
Been tied up.
As far as the video i looked at yesterday, there were only two areas that were confusing. The first was with the google login and i was not sure if you clicked on the button before going to another window. It happened so quickly that i had to run it a few times. On the issue that i emailed you about, I saw the url at the bottom of the screen but did not really put the two together because i was following you step-by-step and since you did not copy and paste that part in for the callback url it just appeared, i expected the same to occur. I would make that really clear. Also, i did not realize that the instructions were below the video. My focus was the video and did not even look below which might have explained more.

I think you need to assume that viewers like myself will follow the video step by step and so, you must connect the dots and when something is missing or if you want the viewer to make an assumption, that is where the problem comes in.

As far as any future videos that you update, if you want to send over those or tell me which you might modify, if they pertain to something i am doing or need to do, i would be glad to review and do a video capture for better explanation.

My own personal focus is google plus as I believe with hangouts and youtube and with google plus already number two and youtube number 3 in social media,, the more i can use google + tools, the better.
I know that facebook has a 5 to 1 advantage at this time, but, I do think that will change soon. I believe roughly 70 of the traffic (at least for my site) comes via google and with google search having such a dominant spot, with google authorship and the advent of semantic search, google will dominate social.

But feel free to send over fb and/or google vid and i will be glad to at least try to give some input.
Thanks,
S.

Stephen,
I apologize for the delayed response to this. We'll be updating the installation and setup video with your recommendations above when we add more to it for other social networks in October. We really appreciate that feedback!

We'll be creating plenty more videos going forward and would welcome any feedback on any of them. Fortunately, our video editing software lets us easily re-edit things to add a few more words or clips here and there, so it's not like we have to re-do the entire thing for minor changes.

As for Google, I agree with you that it's only going to grow. There's a lot of cool features there and Google is going to only keep promoting and growing it going forward.

Anyways, just wanted to make sure I got you a response to this. Feedback from our clients is invaluable in making our extensions (and documentation) better and I wanted to thank you for helping!

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
Thanks for your response.
I look forward to your videos and updates.
I have an idea that perhaps you might have an interest....
Over the past year, I've been doing a bunch of hangouts, as many as i can do.
Most of them are not technology related, but since my real love is technology, I want to do more.
Thus, perhaps you and I could do a hangout interview to discuss your products and social media.
I would share on my social media and website as well as on some of the relevant groups and communities.
Nothing fancy. I would record it and edit it.
Look forward hear from you,
Steve
P.S....I started a webpagetest before I emailed you.
www.webpagetest.org/result/130924_0C_13XY/1/details/
The buttons generally take between and and two secs. Occasionally, they take longer than that.
Is there anything in particular that i can do speed it up?
If not, no problem.

Stephen,
I love your idea of doing a hangout. As you can tell, we've been trying to do more videos and engage with our customers easily that way. We also had plans to do a webcast later this year or early next as a "Ask anything social", but hadn't really done any planning or thought behind that. I've been 'on' a Hangout before, but never really promoted one.

In short, if you're interested in doing something together, lets chat! Feel free to either here or emailing me at supportATsourcecoast.com

As for the social buttons, there's not a huge amount that can be done about that. The social buttons should all be loading after the rest of the page has loaded and not preventing other content from loading (they load asynchronously). Your home page has a few articles (each with 2 social buttons) and then some extra social widgets (comments, feed, etc). Each of those has to be detected and rendered individually and there really isn't a way to speed that process up.

I hope that explains, even if there was no great answer there, and I look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks,
Alex
