Hi, is the above possible; do we have to tweak Jomsocial's code to achieve that, for instance using the {JFBCRequest...} tag? I f yes, what would be advisable?
Thanks.

brsi,
When you create the Request in the admin area, you can set the 'Destination URL' from your site. That URL can definitely be a JomSocial group page, or anything else for that matter.

If there's something else specific you're asking for, let us know, but there shouldn't be anything stopping you from creating a Request that goes to a Group.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks Alex; actually my idea is to let group owners and/or group members (who do not have access to the admin area) send friends requests from the detailed group page (view) that would directly point to that group page, hence my question about what would be best to achieving this.

We don't have that ability yet. We are planning to allow 'dynamic' requests that can go to a custom page defined for each instance, but don't have that ability yet. Unfortunately, the only way to do that now is with a lot of code changes. We can provide them for you (we've helped other users do it), but it takes a bit of effort.

I don't have an exact timeline on when we'd get this implemented, but we have plans to update the Request feature quite a bit over one of the next big releases.. that means it should be in over the next 3-5 months.

Hope that helps,
Alex

To me this feature would be quite a differentiation...so I guess I'm in for changing the code in the meantime; please advise on how to proceed.
Thanks, Bruno

I'm going to try to get some information on how to do this to you over the next few days, but it may take up to a week. We've given instructions to users in the past on the updates required, but they could use some revisions and condensing. At the same time, I'll probably be trying to implement it fully so it's part of the next v5.1 release. That way, you know what we tell you is what should be available when you next update.

That's the optimistic plan, but hopefully, we should be able to help get you going soon. If you have any questions or concerns, let me know.

Thanks,
Alex

Brilliant, thanks! Now hearing that Jomsocial will issue a major release (3.0) within a few weeks , I suppose that you will want to wait for it to adapt as well...
