Hi,

I've updated JomSocial to version 2.8.3 this morning and started receiving error msgs when registering through JFBConnect custom facebook button:

There was an error when trying to move image (/home/fsgs/public_html/tmp/scprofile_99_pic_tmp.jpg) to /home/mystorage/53/24/h7/fsgs/public_html/images/avatar/ae133d84f9a9f7aa2a819245.jpg

I'm not sure which component is in the core of the problem (JomSocial itself or JFBConnect).. Any clues?

Thanks

Nevermind, rolled back to JomSocial 2.8.2 and JFBConnect user fields mappings worked flawlessly.

Stay away from JomSocial 2.8.3, it's buggy as hell....

Hmmm. Interesting, and thanks for the input. We're doing a lot of testing with 2.8, but we're actually still on 2.8.1 for right now. Just haven't upgraded, no real reason for the hold-back. We'll test more with 2.8.3 after JFBConnect v5.0 comes out (in a few days).

As for your issue, it may have just been a permissions issue on the /images directory where we couldn't copy the file. Could have been a lot of other things too :)

Either way, glad you're back to normal, and should you need anything else, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Alex,

When I first saw the errors, the first that came to my mind was permission issues on that directory, but everything was ok (chmod 0755, apache user was the owner, etc etc).. Then uninstalled 2.8.3 through extension manager and installed old 2.8.2 and "magically" everything came back to normal. Lurking through JS forums found more people with the same complaint after updating. I saw my error logs and there were image re-sizing mentions, maybe ImageMagik is broken on this version.

Just for the records, they fixed the problem re-uploading 2.8.3 with some bugfixes, this morning. It's working fine now.

David,
Thanks for letting us know about the revised installer. We'll keep that in mind in case others run into the same issue. Glad to hear the 'good' release continues to work just fine with JFBConnect as well!

As always, should you need anything else, just let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

David, i was invovled in that thread as well. The new version didn't fix this error for me. However, upgrading to JFBC v5 got rid of it.

It did NOT however clear up the fact that i still had {actor} in my stream and no images being imported.

I downgraded back to v2.8.2 and the {actor} tags went away. I'm still working on the avatar import, but I think that is a JFBC issue....

Hi, Steve

the *second* 2.8.3 indeed fixed my avatar uploading issues.. Maybe Alex can help you with the profile fields mapping, these JS 2.8.x releases are showing to be really troublesome....

I have resolved it. I started a thread here:
www.sourcecoast.com/forums/jfbconnect/jf...-appearing-in-config

I had too many things cooking at once. I upgraded to JFBC v5 while the JS problem was still going on. My upgrade process introduced a NEW problem that also prevented the avatar's from importing. As you can see in that thread, I resolved it myself.....;)

Hopefully JS v2.8.3 will be fixed soon!

Glad to hear it *sounds* like things are good. Talking about too much cooking at once, I do want to verify that there's nothing actionable from us above. I know it seems like there are some issues with JomSocial's 2.8.x releases, but I really don't think anything is directly related to JFBConnect. For thew new release of v5.0, we did all testing with JomSocial 2.8.1. I know that's a little old, but everything did work as expected (except the {actor} thing).

As always, if you run into issues, always feel free to let us know.

Thanks,
Alex
