When using JFBCLike Easy-Tag in an EasyBlog blog entry, it causes extraneous text / buttons outside of the blog. Attached screenshot illustrates the problem...

We're looking into the cause of this. We've heard of a similar issue in K2.

Can you try setting the social buttons to display on "Bottom" instead of "Top" and see if that gets rid of the issue? Let us know if that helps the situation. We're working on a method to prevent the problem when the buttons are shown on "Top" or "Both", but your feedback will help ensure we're talking about the same issue.

Thanks,
Alex

Out-of-the-box the setting is "None" (defaults by function to the "Top"?). When I changed to setting to "Bottom" and used the easy tag I see this issue is now gone.

Glad that got you going. We are looking into possible solutions for that issue, and hope to have a fix out later this month.

Thanks,
Alex

Sorry, but it appears as though the problem hasn't gone away...my screen may have auto-adjusted / scrolled upwards so that I no longer saw the extraneous text but it still does appear. I'm fairly certain I've adjusted the settings properly and have attached a screen shot for your review. I also turned off EasyBlog's own "Like" which had previously (by default) been set to publish in each blog posting. What additional information can I provide to assist you?

I've appended this post with a snapshot of Google Chrom Dev Tools so you can see what's at the top of the page --- only when Like is turned on via JFBC:

I have identified other Easy-Tags that have the same behavior. When they're used, the content they produce appears in a new area at the top of the page as "extraneous copies" of the very same content that appears in the EasyBlog entry.

{JFBCLike}
{JFBCSend}
{JFBCComments}
{JFBCFan}
{JFBCRecommendations}
{JFBCFriends}
{JFBCLiveStream} (this tag actually has no affect -- perhaps I'm not using correctly, I do need to research first if any module/plugin needs publishing first etc.)
{JFBCSubscribe}

I'm eagerly looking forward to the resolution. I had originally only purchased JFBConnect to allow users to login to my vertical industry website via their Facebook account. But having just begun looking at possibilities I find I have even more value before me! I'm very excited how I can offer my end-users who are blogging with their own respective customers using my product in a way that allows those customers to integrate their blog with their own Facebook page in a powerful and flexible way that will make them more effective, efficient, and successful.

The problem is with how EasyBlog is taking the text of the article and using them their own Open Graph and description tags in the head section of the page. Basically, they're taking our {JFBCxyz} tags (any of them) and putting them in the head. Then, later on, our JFBCSystem plugin replaces those tags with the right HTML, but it's in the wrong spot.

We're working on a way to detect when our tags on in the head section and simply remove them, instead of replace them. It's difficult to do though, which is what's taking time. Alternatives to use until our fix is available are:
* Don't add any tags at the beginning of your article, add them at the end. That way, they won't be used for description tags.
* Try to disable the Open Graph abilities of EasyBlog. It may prevent them from pulling the wrong tags and putting them up there.

Hope that helps, and we'll keep you posted on what we find,
Alex

Thank you for your explanation, thoughts, and suggestion. Can you please share when you anticipate a fix becoming available for me to implement? If you need anything else from me to assist you please let me know.

Meanwhile I found a configurable section (Settings->Social Integrations) to disable appending opengraph info in headers and another to disable loading Facebook scripts (presume that's not connected to the problem). Based on your suggestions my feedback follows:

1) Don't add any tags at the beginning of your article, add them at the end. That way, they won't be used for description tags.

I had added the tags at the end of the EasyBlog entry but they apparently were still used for description tags because the problem remained.

2) Try to disable the Open Graph abilities of EasyBlog. It may prevent them from pulling the wrong tags and putting them up there.

I disabled appending opengraph info in headers (and loading Facebook scripts) but this didn't fix the problem for me. I've attached an image of the relevant admin screen section.

eileenod,
If enabled, please make sure you're clearing your Joomla cache after any changes you make. Moving the tags to the bottom of the entry should definitely remove the issue where it's used as the description. The only other way the tags would be at the top is if the Social Configuration area of JFBConnect has the social buttons to appear at the top. Otherwise, there's really no reason that EasyBlog should be looking at the bottom of the article for the description.

The same goes for the other settings you disabled in EasyBlog. If you don't clear the cache after making those changes, the effect won't be seen until the cache is re-generated.

We're investigating the best solution in code, and are hoping to have some suggestions out late this week.

Thanks,
Alex
