Topic-icon Send Button & product's description with VirtueMart 2

Hi,
I' encountered a strange situation using send to facebook.
Before JFBConnect installation I used to put on a product description a tab (produced with DJ-VMPagebreak Editor Plugin and DJ-VMPagebreak Content Plugin) with some text but after a while I decided to put that text in a custom module elsewhere in the page.
Also, before JFBConnect I tried a plugin named ITPShare.
So, in a product's description field I had some descriptive text for the product, in a few lines, and after those I had that tab.
The send button (at the time was used ITPShare plugin) took always only the text from the tab, ignoring the first lines of the description...
Because it was very annoying and unuseful I uninstalled both DJ-VMPagebreak plugins and deleted all the text presented by them.

The strange thing appeared because the send button shows the same text as before.
I thought that it was something related also with ITPShare plugin and I uninstalled it.
I installed JFBConnect and the situation repeats... send button sends the same unexisting text to the Facebook.

The site has the cache disabled and I deleted all the cookies and the browser's cache.
I use Joomla! 2.5.8, VirtueMart 2.0.14 and JFBConnect 4.3.2.

Laurentiu

Facebook also caches the contents of your page and can use that for quite a while even after your text has changed.

Try running your page through Facebook's URL debugger. That will start the process to update their cache of your page. Also, check that the description there is something that you'd like. If not, you'll need to use the Open Graph features of JFBConnect to set tags for that page.
developers.facebook.com/tools/debug

The Like button will get it's text updated automatically. The Send button seems to be on a whole different timetable, and we've seen it take weeks to update, depending on if the content has ever been 'sent' to a user before.

Hope that helps explain, but there's not much more we can do,
Alex

Yes, I did run the site through Facebook's URL debugger because I found your advice on another post.
In this case I think that I must wait and see...

Another little problem with the Send Button that I encountered is that the button' action does nothing sometimes, but very often.
After a click on it nothing happens, still it does open the message window after a page refresh.
Is that a normal behaviour? It' a little annoying.
I saw this not only in JFBConnect but also in the previous used extension.

Thanks,
Laurentiu

Laurentiu,
Not sure what's going on with the Send button. I haven't heard of that behavior before. Do you have a lot of other Javascript functionality on the page? Just trying to know if it's a possible conflict with other settings on your site or if it's a bug with Facebook. It could easily be either.
