JFBConnect has an option to redirect first time users and returning users to different pages on your site. You can configure how that works in the Configuration area of JFBConnect.

I'm not sure what you're trying to do differently, and you shouldn't need to check or insert anything into the jfbconnect_user_map table during registration or login. JFBConnect should take care of that automatically.
