Peter,
We'll have to do more testing with different language options. I believe we have some older Rockettheme templates around, but if possible, can you let us know if the language setting is a problem for standard Joomla templates as well (like beez?). That's what we do most development with, so it will speed testing up if we can use our normal environment.

Thanks, and we'll do what we can to help you get to the bottom of it all!

Alex

Peter,
We did a bit of testing this weekend with different language packs installed with different settings for templates and content and couldn't recreate your issue at all. We just had another user with a similar (though different) problem. He was using a custom 404 module called "Qlue 404". You don't look to have that installed, but do you have any firewalls or page detection plugins that might try to capture or detect 404 errors on your site? If so, can you disable them and test again?

Beyond that, would it be possible to have access to the admin area of your site to understand what's going wrong further and see how things are configured on your site so we can hopefully recreate it?

Thanks,
Alex

Peter,
Just wanted to revisit this topic. We had 2 other issues with similar reports of random 500 errors during logging in. We were able to localize the problem on those 2 sites to a plugin they were both using, "System - FeedGator pseudo-cron Plugin". Are you using that plugin? If so, I'd recommend checking out the thread below with some recommendations on how to work around the issue (if you're not willing to disable it):

Definitely let us know how things are going,
Alex
