hi, i've just subscribed JFBConnect 4.2 and installed all the necessary modules & plugins, auto-tuned already as well. my site is built with Joomla 1.7 + JomSocial 2.4, instead of clicking the "Login with Facebook" button, i would like to enable the "Authenticated Referrals" with my site, I have already enabled it on my FB app, but i don't know how to start this and configure with JFBConnect, please kindly advise, thanks.

Jami,
I'll be doing a lot of AR testing and development tomorrow to get you, and another user, some answers on how best to set things up and what needs to change.

I'll keep you posted on what we find, and how best to proceed.
Alex

Jami,
I just posted a good description of how Authenticated Referrals are working for us when we test using JFBConnect 4.2.1 in another thread. Feel free to check it out, and let us know if you have any questions, issues, or feedback on getting things setup:

Thanks,

thanks Alex, i have updated to 4.2.1 and configured accordingly. now it has successfully "auto login" the users, but i find it quite interesting because it truly 'automatically", i mean it doesn't even require the user's permission to get their FB data on their first login, it just logs in to my site without any redirection to FB's AR page.

Also, regarding the 'logout' issue, where should i create the logout item/menu? since Joomla or Jomsocial doesn't come with a logout menu, i wonder how to enable that to compatible with JFBConnect.

Thanks!

Jami,
Sorry for the delay. A user only needs to grant permission for your application/site once. After that, the automatic login will work without requiring them to approve anything. New users will still have to approve it. We can't get around that.

As for logging out, JomSocial does actually have a logout button in the top left of it's menu bar/navigation area (it's a circle with a vertical line through it on the default JomSocial template). However, other options include using the SCLogin module or adding the {JFBCLogin logout=true} tag somewhere, which will add a logout button when the user is logged in.

Hope that helps,
Alex

JFBConnect doesn't have any way of bypassing the grant permissions box. If the user is being 'connected' to your site and added to the User Map area, they had to approve the app. If it is bypassing the permission popup, that's likely a bug with Facebook itself.

Can you post (or private message) the Canvas URL so we can test to see if the permission box is appearing? If there are any special instructions on how you're testing, please let us know that as well.

Thanks,
Alex

Jami,
Thanks for the message. However, you sent me your website URL, not your Facebook Canvas URL. Authenticated Referrals only work with Canvas pages (apps.facebook.com/APP_NAME). For users to login to your site on your actual webpage, you'll need to use the Login With Facebook button in the SCLogin module.

Let us know if you're actually using the Canvas area of Facebook, and if so, let us have that URL so we can test.

Thanks,
Alex
