Problem Solved! Not sure if this is the right thing to do - but disabling FTP in the global configuration solved this issue.

akashmitra,
JFTP write errors are a problem with underlying Joomla and caused because your FTP credentials are wrong, or the FTP you're using doesn't have access to the directory being written too. Disabling it is the right move, especially if it works!

For the New User Status message, make sure that both the URL and image you have setup are publicly accessible. If it still doesn't work, try removing the image link altogether and set the URL to your home page. Facebook does a lot of checks on things you post to a users wall, and will reject them if things are wrong (image doesn't work, not the right size, etc) or out of the ordinary (link to a page that isn't part of your Facebook Application's domain or site URLs).

Try that, and let us know how it goes,
Alex
