Hi

I've just created some custom profile fields (for users to fill in when the register), but these don't seem to be appearing on the JomSocialFacebook fieldmapping page in the JFBConnect config options.

Is there something else I need to do?

Hello,
have you installed and enabled JFBC's JomSocial Plugin and enabled the rest of JFBC's plugins?
Take a quick look at the Configuration Guide , which might help you find anything missing.

If that doesn't help, could you please give us a link to your website & post a screenshot of the JFBConnect Admin Overview Page .

Tom,
Also, be aware that the only fields you can map into in JomSocial are text type fields. Any fields that have selections (radio buttons, drop-downs, etc), we can't import into. Most fields from Facebook have free-form text or are part of their selections of all music bands (for instance). There's no way to map that into a select list that you may have created, so we only allow importing into free-form fields.

If that's your issue, and you have a field you think you should be able to import into, let us know more.

Thanks both for your help. It does seem to be the text area only issue that was causing my problem. Is there any workaround for this? For example, on my site I am wanting to import the gender and current country from FB, but unfortunately it looks like I can't do this?

Is Gender set in CB as a Radio or Drop Down field?
if so, as Alex mentioned we cannot import those kind of fields.

Like Mati said, yeah, we can't do that yet. We actually have it working in some other extensions where the field is hardcoded to values of M or F (for instance). In JomSocial though, the field can be arbitrary (male/female, m/f, girl/boy, etc). We have a plan to get gender (and some other fields) working where you can specify a mapping between what Facebook will return and what options you have.

Hopefully, it will be in the 4.2 release (coming in a month or so), but I just can't guarantee that. There's a lot of improvements for profile integration intended for that release already.
