Just started poking around in your HTML, and found the following line, which may be part of the issue:

<link href="laughablenews.com/Search.html?format=opensearch" rel="search" title="Search The Laughable News" type="application/opensearchdescription+xml" />

Never seen a rel="search" tag. Do you know what this is, or what's inserting it into your page? I'm certainly not saying it's wrong or bad, just need more info.

I found the following doc which describes it a little, but honestly don't understand it's purpose still:
developer.mozilla.org/en/Creating_OpenSe..._plugins_for_Firefox

Thanks,
Alex

Never heard of it before. Did a search of plugins on my site to see if search came up and I get these. Not sure if any of them might be the culprit. I'm not exactly a joomla/code expert...in fact, I'm about 1 stage above noob :)

Ryan,
Well.. figured out the issue. Can't say I have a clue about the 'why', but I know the 'how' now, and that's enough for us to investigate further and for you to hopefully get going again.

The issue was in the module "Search" setting for "OpenSearch autodiscovery" which was set to "Yes". I'm not sure what this does other than adding that extra link tag I referenced above, but obviously, there's something going on there. I set it to the "No" setting, and I was able to login and remain on the current page without issue. I also set it to "No" in 2 other Search modules.. not sure if they're used.

We'll definitely be investigating this for the 4.1.1 fix.. there were some changes in how we do redirection, as I mentioned, and either we'll work around this or revert to the old way if necessary.

Thanks for your patience, and as always, test, test, test!

Alex

Oh yeah, please remove me from the Super Admins list. In 1.7, I can't do that to myself :(

Ryan,
Just had a note to swing back to this thread and let you know that v4.1.1 is available. It should fix the redirection issues you were having and you should now be able to disable redirections (leaving the user on the current page) instead of forcing a specific menu item.

Definitely let us know if you run into issues.. and if it works, that'd be good to know as well :D

Best of luck, and thanks for your patience,
Alex

Hey alex - good memory! I'm impressed that you came back to post here. Anyway, the update fixed the issue. Thank you! No other issues to report with 4.1.1 :)

Ryan,
Yours was an issue we understood, but weren't actually able to recreate. In those cases, we like to swing back and make sure the problem was really solved. It helps our customers (obviously) but also helps us so that we're not surprised if 10 others come and start reporting the same thing. Keeping support to a minimum is essential.. and it also makes a good product!

Thanks for the feedback, and very glad to hear you're not having this trouble anymore.

Best of luck,
Alex
