Is it possible to integrate a frameless or framed page in Joomla to display a FB Fan Page so people can see updates and post directly from and to the fan page from the frameless / framed Joomla page?

That's a new question to us. I just tried to use the Wrapper module, included with Joomla, and the browser throws an error. It looks like Facebook has set a specific header which prevents it from being displayed in an iFrame.

Not sure if there's any way around this. I honestly wouldn't try. If Facebook doesn't want itself to be shown in an iFrame, and you find a workaround and they detect it, it may just end up in your Page being disabled. Generally, Facebook (just like most webmasters) wants users to be on their page so they control what happens.. not boxed in and confined to some other page.

My best suggestion would be the JFBCFan module, which at least shows the latest stream of the admins and some other things which the user can then choose to act upon.

Hope that helps,
Alex

Alright. My other question would be then, is it possible to show just the status updates or comments on a page? Would that be different than the Fan Module?

No, the Fan module can do 'mostly' what you're looking for. It can be set to not show a Like button, not show user's who Like your Page, and basically be stripped down to just the most recent admin posts to your Facebook Page. However, it doesn't show non-admin user posts. That's mainly to prevent spam from showing up across the web. The Fan widget is meant as a way to lure users to your actual FB Page, by showing them the type of content the admins post. Then, they can go there, read other posts and/or choose to comment themselves.

There's no widget distributed by Facebook which shows the entire stream within a webpage.

Hope that helps,
Alex

Thanks! I'm guessing that also means that there is no way to set a "Comments" widget on a Joomla page that posts comments directly to the Fan Page as opposed to their own FB Walls? Other than that, no more questions regarding this. Fan Module will do.

Nope. Facebook wants a clear separation between comments on your site vs their FB Pages. Facebook's biggest fear, and thing they try to combat heavily, is 'tricking' users in any way. They give little/no flexibility in how the Like button looks or acts, to make sure it's always the same for everyone and can't be (easily) gamed. So, comments on your site for your FB Page could be confusing, and could lead to comments about the current page from your site posting to your Page, where it may or may not make any sense without context. That's why they don't provide the tools to do it easily.

With all that said, I believe there are ways to post to the wall from your site, but it's not using any of the easy widgets to do so.. it would take a lot of programming, and setup to get done, and just something we don't support. Just mentioning that so, in case you see something similar somewhere (we haven't actually), you don't think I'm blowing you off.

As always, questions or other feedback welcome. We always love hearing how people are (or want) to use JFBConnect. It helps us to always make improvements for future releases.

Good luck,
Alex
