I'm not sure what happened here. I added facebook LIKE and comments to my articles. They were working (I could click like - and a box would pop up for me to type text). Then, all of a sudden, it doesn't work on any browser I try. The box pops open briefly, and then disappears. I can't figure out what happened. I'm hoping you have another "genius" answer that will solve this for me. Crossing my fingers Alex.

I just restored my site from a few days ago, to see if any recent changes I had made were the problem. I added the like box to my articles again, from the JFBconnect component options. The like box has an eror next to it. Its message is:

There was an error liking the page. If you are the page owner, please try running your page through the linter on the Facebook devsite (developers.facebook.com/tools/lint/) and fixing any errors.

Are you still having this issue? Usually, this can happen if the Like button is on a brand new page, and usually, when that page requires a logged in user to view.

If that's not the case, or your still running into issues, please post (or private message) the URL of an offending page.

Thanks,
Alex

Hey Alex. It is not a brand new page, and it is open for all to see. (Actually, it is happening on every page that has the LIKE button). I'll pm the link right away.

The Like button on the page you PM'd actually worked fine for me. It also showed up in my profile with the proper image, title, and description.

Not sure why it's not working for you, but I'd recommend testing from a different computer and/or different Facebook account. One other thing I noticed on your page is that there's another extension on your site that's loading the Facebook Javascript library. If you open the HTML, and search for "all.js", you should only find it once. It's there' twice. You should disable that other extension, or at least determine how to disable it's inclusion of the Facebook Javascript API.

Hope that helps!
Alex

So, it worked perfectly? Odd? And, the pop up window opens where you can enter text?

I have no idea what component/module/plugin could be causing it. I'm pretty sure I have all other facebook connections disabled. I'm attaching a screenshot of all installed components...the only things I can think of are the Jomsocial component, and the sh404sef...I'll dig deeper and see if the settings are still wrong. Tell me if you think it might be one of the others. (I'm so tired of this website...I just want to get it live, and relax already...haha-life of a website owner...)

I'll also try it on another cpu/facebook account

I'm a little "thick" when it comes to these things...so I'm now grasping at straws. Does it matter that I have multiple apps in the facebook.developer area? I've attached a screenshot. One is clearly for JFBConnect, but I'm not sure what the other is for. Could it be causing the other instance of "all.js"? Should I delete it?

well, I'm baffled. I tried it on my wife's computer, with her facebook account, and it worked beautifully. WTF?! Time to clear cookies, cache, etc on my system, do a restart, and try again.

Hey Alex,

Well, it must have been a cookie. After clearing out all cookies for my site and facebook, and restarting my cpu, all is well. I wonder what the conflict was. Oh well, at least it is gone...now to find out why I have two instances of all.js

Thanks for your help (as always)

So sad, I'm back already. Clearing the cookies/cache worked, but the issue returned right away. So, after playing around, I have to assume it has something to do with me. I can click LIKE, and it works. It populates my facebook wall properly. I can unLIKE, and that works. I can click LIKE/unLIKE 100 times, and there isn't an issue. But, the second I refresh the page, or leave it and return, two new things pop up under the LIKE button: Admin Page and Insights. After they show up, all is lost. The error message will come up if I click LIKE/unLIKE again.

The only other thing that pops up after a refresh is my facebook image, as I have it set that way it the back end. I tested it with that option off, and it didn't make a difference.

So, I have to assume something is glitchy with JUST me on my website(which is a relief), because it seems that it is related to my facebook account, and my ability to see the insights/Admin page. So Alex, you don't have this same issue with your site? Do you get the option to view Admin Page and Insights?

(Now, with all that said, I'm obviously no expert. I could just be blowing smoke out of my arse with that analysis) :)
