Topic-icon "JFolder create: Could not create directory" on component install

On installation of the JFBConnect component I get the error:

JFolder::create: Could not create directory Plugin Install: Failed to create directory: /home/mywebhome/public_html/plugins/authentication/jfbconnectauth

In addition, I get:

ERROR: Could not install the JFBConnect Facebook Authentication Plugin. Please install manually.

Three plugins and module installed without issue. Is there a deeper issue here I need address? Where/how can I get the auth plugin separately so that I can install it manually? Or is there an issue regarding JFolder create? I am excited to get started with the plugin!

Thanks!

This usually only happens when the /plugins/authentication directory isn't permissioned or owned by the proper user. When the permissions or ownership is incorrect, Joomla is unable to write to those directories.

Please check your directory settings, and compare against the /plugins/user directory for reference, and make sure they're the same. If that doesn't make any sense, let us know, and we can help explain how to check.

Thanks,
Alex

Fantastic! Hope it's all smooth sailing from here, but should you run into anything else, you know where to find us :)

Finally, if you haven't already, please consider leaving a rating and review on the Joomla Extension Directory for JFBConnect and/or our support. It's certainly not required, but very appreciated!

Ramana,
There are multiple places that JFBConnect copies files too. Please make sure the permissions are set correctly for:
/administrator/components
/components
/modules
/plugins/authentication
/plugins/content
/plugins/system
/plugins/user

In the System Information, there's a Directory Permissions tab. All directories in there should be green and say Writeable. If not, they need to be fixed. Hopefully, you'll get it going from there. If not, if there's more information about what file can't be moved, please let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,
Thanks for your quick response. I just checked "Directory Permissions" tab. every folder is writable except logs and tmp folders. Is that wrong?

Please help

Thanks

Never mind. i made both logs and tmp folders writeable. Installation worked perfectly. Appreciate the support.

Yup.. tmp folder should always be writeable (by owner, not by all). That's the scratch area for a lot of extensions to do their dirty work :D

Glad you got it going. Should you need anything else, just let us know!

Thanks, and good luck,
Alex
