Hello,

I have tried over and over again to find out how to configured JFBConnect and I must admit that I am lost. I have installed and configured many Joomla extensions. I have read that other of your customers are installing this in 20 min and I had hope to do the same but after several hours I have hit the wall by now with JFBConnect. Do you supply configuration and if yes how much will it cost.

We are getting several confusing information from the JFBConnect Overview in the back-end including that JomSocial not is installed. We have installed JomSocial latest version - JomSocial 2.4_RC2.

We have also installed ExtendedReg because we at our new web portal want to be able to operate with different customer groups and member groups and different registration forms and several other ExtendedReg features.

It was our plan to buy the LinkedIn extension from you too but having the problems we have right now with the configuration of JBFConnect we think that we maybe will end up in a new configuration problem.

Our web server:
PHP Built On Linux xxxxxxx.com 2.6.18-238.12.1.el5PAE #1 SMP Tue May 31 14:02:45 EDT 2011 i686
Database Version 5.0.92-community
Database Collation utf8_general_ci
PHP Version 5.2.16
Web Server Apache/2.2.17 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.17 OpenSSL/0.9.8m DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635
WebServer to PHP Interface cgi-fcgi
Joomla! Version Joomla! 1.7.2 Stable [ Ember ] 17-Oct-2011 14:00 GMT have all the latest system setup and we are running on a Joomla 1.7.2.

I hope you can help us out

FH,
There's a full release of JomSocial 2.4 out that we'd recommend over the RC2 version. Either way though, if JFBConnect can't detect that it's installed, it means that there's some problem with JFBConnect trying to check if the /components/com_community directory is there.. and that's definitely not normal.

If you want to private message me the details of your site, I can look at the admin area to see if there's anything obviously misconfigured. It shouldn't be as tough as your saying it is, so something definitely doesn't seem right. You can PM me by clicking the arrow under my picture (<----) and hitting the mail icon.

Finally, we haven't done any testing with ExtendedReg, so I don't know if you'll be able to use JFBConnect to register and then send them to a different form after they've created their account. I simply don't know how ExtendedReg works. It may be easily possible, but I just don't know.

Thanks, and we'll do what we can to get you going,
Alex

Finn,
Thanks for your PM with details about your site. I just tried to access your site, but the Joomla admin credentials weren't working.

However, I re-read your message, and I think I understand where the confusion is coming from. The "This extension does not appear to be installed." message on the JFBConnect Overview page is not talking about the 3rd party extension that JFBConnect integrates with, it's talking about our plugin that is meant to do the actual integration. In the My Subscriptions area of this site, there are extra files to download, in addition to the main component. Mainly, get the jfbconnect_profile_plugin zip file, unzip it, and install the profile plugin for JomSocial. Once installed, you should be able to configure the integration in the "Profiles" integration tab.

Hopefully, that's the whole problem, but if not, just let us know!

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alzander,

Thank you for your reply.

I re-install all of JFBConnect plugins and the following is now OK:
JFBConnect - Profiles - JomSocial - installed
JFBConnect - Profiles - Kunena - installed
Authentication - JFBConnect Facebook - installed
Content - JFBCContent - installed
System - JFBCSystem - installed
User - JFBConnect Facebook - installed
JFBConnect - FB Wall Integration - installed

So good so far but it still leave me with some configuration problems - which I hope you will take a look at. I will send you new Joomla admin credentials.

Best regards,
Finn

Finn,
Glad to hear that's going better. I got your message with the credentials.. however, you mention "some configuration problems". Can you explain a bit more as to what problems your having, as that will help us to provide a good solution.

Thanks,
Alex
