Hi

We recently installed this component, and so far we a really happy with it. I have a 'simple' question though, and I can't seem to find the answer in the forum - please point me to the relevant info...

We would like to display only the count of comments - on front page, and category pages, we would like have a title saying something like "32 comments on this article" - this should be subject to our own styling if at all possible...

Would it be possible to retrive/get the number of comments on an article from somewhere?

Thx in advance

Kasper

Kasper,
Sorry for the delayed response. Facebook does allow you to see how many comments are in an article, but we don't have that ability built into JFBConnect yet. It's something we're looking into for a future release.

If you have a developer that you work with, we can gladly help try to guide you along the process and get it implemented. That will help us work on it as well for the next release, but we don't have the time to implement it and fully test it right now. We're shooting to have the 4.1 release out by the end of the year, and can easily see this in that release.

Hope that helps, and glad you're liking everything else so far.

Thanks,
Alex

Has anyone else in the forums been able to figure this kind of thing out? I'm transitioning from Disqus comments by Joomlaworks, but this is one of the features missing, along with being able to display recent comments in a module.

Aziz,
There isn't a way to do this yet with JFBConnect. Over the course of this year, Facebook has introduced a couple of new good features for getting the comment count, and comment text, using their APIs. We're planning to implement what you're looking for in (likely) the 4.2 release, which should be out in the first few months of next year. 4.1 with some other big features is coming out in a week or so.

Hope that helps explain. We agree that commenting is a big area we can tackle, and we certainly plan too soon.

Thanks,
Alex
