Hey,
using FB's Debug Tool , I'm checking my website and I get a warning saying:
Inferred Property:	The og:locale property should be explicitly provided, even if a value can be inferred from other tags.

funny thing, that this tag is optional, according to the OpenGraph Docs , but since we already have a locale setting in the component, I thought it'd be nice to set this tag automatically.

is it possible?

mmmm, I've manually added the og:locale and it is read by the debug tool, but the warning is still there :)

The debug tool can definitely be off with their warnings. If it's reading it properly, I'd let it rest at that.

We'll look into setting the local parameter automatically in the future. Multi-lingual is something, in general, that we're aware we need to improve on. We do some things right, but in other areas we're lacking.

Thanks for the report. Hadn't seen that warning before, and we hate warnings there because people always ask about them :)

I think there is a mismatch in FB's Docs, since it clearly says two things:
  1. it you have a single language, there's no need for this tag - and yet they show a warning about it
  2. they mention og:locale:alternate, which is the wrong tag - when I use og:locale the warning is off

please do count on me, for any: testing, debugging, brainstorming, whatever... :)

There's always inconsistencies in the Facebook documentation. There's never really a way to tell the situation either. Obviously, the code is always right, since that's how it works right now. The documentation can either be out of date, or an indicator of the future... and in this case, I don't know the answer :)

I would recommend fb:locale as that sounds correct. fb:locale:alternate sounds like something that can be specified in addition to locale, but really don't know the answer.

Hope this... helps. :)
