hi.
i've looked around on this forum and could not see a similar problem described.

i have some issues but i'll start with the basics. Ive turned on a module on a specific menu link, which is a blog layout. I want like box only to appear on article view and not blog view. how do I do that?

second question, these modules are positioned at bottom of article. If I press send button, facebook box opens higher that the page and scroller does not adjust. Cant the box open upwards and not downwords? It's silly that I cant submit content...!

website section is:
colegio-s@[email protected]/index.php/edublogue

please change @ for "a", I dont know if this forum is searchable by robots...!
th@nks for helping!

Nelson,
I'm not exactly wure if you're talking about the LikeBox/JFBCFan module or the Like/Send buttons, but below are some suggestions depending on how you're configuring things.

For the Like/Send buttons, you can use the Content Plugin, which comes with JFBConnect for automatically inserting the Like/Send/Comments to any content section of your site. In the configuration area, there is a "Show In Category View:" setting, which you can set to 'none' to hide it in those views.

If you're using a module to display the widgets in a specific Menu item, there's no way to exclude specific types of pages from displaying that module within Joomla. As an alternative, I'd recommend that in the article you want the Like-Box/JFBCFan module to display, simply enter the following text in the article itself:
{JFBCFan href=http://www.facebook.com/sourcecoast}
There are other parameters you can use in this tag, which you can find in the JFBConnect Tag Configuration Guide

As for the box opening 'down', there's no way to change that behavior. It's a function of Facebook itself, and we have limiting control over it. They do that so we can't 'trick' users into sending or Liking things that they don't want, but every once in a while, it causes issues like this that are unavoidable.

Hope that makes sense, and the best we can recommend is putting padding on your footer to make it larger which can accomodate the 'growth' required by the Send button.

If you need anything else, just let us know!

Hi Alex,
thanks for helping. I disabled modules and used plugin as you said. That solved mme my second post question which was why send box was hidden behind comments. Now using plugins they work well and I didn't had to add padding to footer, which is great!
suddenly I came across 2 new issues.
1- Like and send butons are just too close to comments. Do i have to change CSS to arrange this?
2 - I liked a page on my site, as a guest since I'm not registred joomla user, I received admin email confirming a new like on a specific article, but Likes are not counting. I already had some people liking some articles but it always states as no one has liked it before. I guess my app conection to fb is working OK, because I have a fan box with faces on it, althogh this box says that it has 98 fans, while on fb it has 97...?!
Thanks again. I'm having a lot of use with this piece of code!

Nelson,
A couple of answers:
1) Unasked, but, in the Social config area, set the width to '0' for the article view. That will fix the issue where there's a huge space between the Facebook and other buttons.
2) Add the following to your stylesheet to fix the separation between social buttons and comments. Not sure why it's like that for you, but this will fix it:
.jfbccomments {margin-top: 20px; }
3) The on-page count does seem to be working for me. I Like'd /edublogue/11-saude/401-a-importancia-da-sesta-no-jardim-de-infancia , and then, in a new browser, was able to see the count at 1. If your app is brand new, Facebook sometimes holds Like's for a few days to prevent abuse of the Like system while they scan your page and make sure it's not spammy. Hopefully, that's the problem here.
4) The Like count in your Fanbox and on your actual FB Page can be different depending on whether you (the viewer) likes the page. The Fanbox will always show total fans. The Facebook Page will always show number of Like's not including you.. so if you Like it, the count will be one less than the Fanbox shows.

Hope that all makes sense, but if you have other questions, just let us know!

Hi Alex! that did the trick! I'm extramely happy as it seems everything is working just fine!
As for your suggestion on moving google buttons next to FB, i rather keep them away so they dont start a fight! ;)

One last question. What is OpenGraph on FB? is it something like Analytics on google? Is it something that gives me stats on users that interact with this cool plugin on my site? or is it related to interaction only on facebook app, which i dont have? (I do have the app but users do not interact with it directly, right?)
Can this stats give me results if someone comments or give a Like even if this person is not registred on my site, but is offcourse on FB? If so, someone that is considered as a guest, actually have a facebook profile and i'll be able to see what gender what age and so on, are interacting on my site through your plugin?

Kind regards and good work!

Nelson,
Glad we got you going, and sorry for possibly causing an argument between your social buttons.. wasn't trying to start something :)

Open Graph is more like standard HTML meta tags. They are a way to 'describe' your page to Facebook so when your page is included in a Share, Like, Comment, or other way on a user's Wall, these tags will set the title, description, image, and other information about your page that Facebook should use. Otherwise, it guesses.. and while it can be good at guessing the best line of text or image, it can also be dreadfully off. For more information about Open Graph in JFBConnect, see:
Joomla Open Graph Integration

For Analytics stuff, you're looking for Facebook Insights . There's a lot of information you can glean about your app and website 'stickiness', but the tools are much more geared towards 'apps' like Farmville and stuff that are hosted on Facebook.. not as much off-site usages like Facebook Connect. Still plenty of info there, but some charts will be flatlined, and that's ok.

Hope that all helps, and hope you're enjoying JFBConnect. If you have the time, please consider leaving a rating and review for JFBConnect, or our support, on the Joomla Extension Directory:

Best of luck to you,
Alex

Support is a big chunk of our value proposition. Facebook integration isn't easy, and it certainly isn't always straightforward. Even with great documentation and (hopefully) an easy to user configuration area, there are always questions to be asked. Thanks for your subscription which lets us do what we do!
