Hello!
First of all, I love your extension and your support, so I much rather would prefer to be able to just use jfbconnect for all the social integrations, but I think at the moment, there is some functions missing.
For example, I usually use Ping.fm to broadcast status updates (news snippets) to our different social networks and with a component call JoomPing I showcase the latests updates in a module in the frontpage of our joomla site. We are upgrading to 1.7 now and joomping is not ready for that yet, so I am searching for alternatives. I also much rather have our website as the broadcasting platform instead of Ping.fm. It just makes more sense.
I recently received a newsletter from TechJoomla advertising a new extension called Broadcast for Social Sync between jomsocial, facebook, twitter, linkedin and google +. Basically the more popular ones. And status updates go both directions and also feed from an rss url if desired. all members can link their accounts and also broadcast or sync their jomsocial activities to their social networks. Here is the link: Broadcast
My question is: until you guys offer all this funtions... (any plan for this??), do you think is possible to use it simultaneously with JFBconnect and not get duplicate postings or some other conflicts?
thanks!º

We don't have the ability to automatically push content back to Facebook yet, but it is something we're looking into. Our current schedule has this for the 4.2 release, early next year.. but things always change, so don't hold me to that.

As for the Broadcast extension, I'm not familiar with it, but I don't think you should run into issues from an immediate look. Generally, other systems that include the Facebook PHP library, we don't conflict much with. If they're including the Javascript library from Facebook, there may be a few tweaks necessary, but usually pretty do-able. The biggest conflicts that users run into with JFBConnect and other FB extensions is if they're trying to do authentication as well, which Facebook only wants to talk to one extension.

You can disable JFBConnect's 'pushing' of status updates from JomSocial to a user's profile easily, if that extensions already does it.. and if there are any other conflicts in the Facebook side, we'll do what we can to help sort out what we can.

Certainly, that's not a 100% 'go for it' answer, but if you do, let us know how it goes, and definitely test!

Sounds good... I might give it a try then. Just out of curiosity... as for the other social networks other than facebook... are you contemplating the possibility of pushing content back and forth as well in the future?

Thanks for your tips!
I´ll let you know if I run in troubles...
Cheers!

Noa,
Yes. We're actually going to be launching a LinkedIn extension, with very similar functionality to JFBConnect, later this month. We'll be working for the rest of the year to really standardize the code base between the 2 extensions so that we can create Twitter and Google+ versions early next year.

We definitely have the intention of more pushing and pulling of content between the networks and your site, but it will be at least a few months before we really get down that road.

Hope that helps explain,
Alex
