I'm running JFBConnect 4.0.3 with the latest modules and plugins. Web site is

www.grizzledgamer.com

When I log in as a registered user, I get the following error "HTTP 500 Internal Server Error". I can log in as my admin account just fine (although I may have to login twice to succeed, if that tells you anything). And if I login using either the Jomsocial login or the Kunena login areas, it also works fine. It's only for the JFBC Login module that I have the problem.

Also, after I get the error message following a registered user login attempt, that user shows up in the back end as logged in. If I as Admin log the user out from the back end, then I can get back to my home page front end and try to log in again. Then the cycle repeats.

I feel like I'm missing something basic here, but I can't figure it out.

Griz,
Can you try turning off the avatar import from Facebook into JomSocial and/or Kunena? There's another report of a similar issue regarding JomSocial avatars that we're looking into. Would be great to know if these issues are related.

Also, can you let us know what version of JomSocial you're using?

Thanks,
Alex

Griz/Remington (told him to come here from another thread),
It looks like Facebook simply isn't returning avatars right now, or is overloaded for some reason. The JomSocial profile plugin is not reacting properly to this behavior, and we'll need to put out an updated. However, until we do, or Facebook fixes the problem, please disable the Import Avatar functionality in the Profile plugin.

Also, try viewing the page below. Specifically, in the Comment box, I'm seeing about 1 in 10 avatars actually show up. Hit the "View More Comments" link to see more comments, and please let me know if you're seeing similar behavior.

Yeah, able to reproduce it multiple places. Here's what we can tell:
1) JFBConnect attempts to get the avatar from Facebook
2) The avatar is reported as being there (not the default blue-shadow avatar)
3) Facebook then returns us a 0-byte file (after a delay, likely a timeout)
4) JFBConnect isn't properly handling this scenario in all plugins. JomSocial looks to cause a fatal error, whereas the other plugins (CB, Kunena, Agora, K2) are simply calling the "Use Default Avatar" function of JFBConnect (which is why my avatar is missing in my profile).

We're investigating a fix for JomSocial to do the same.

Likely, in a future JFBConnect component release, we'll update our code to test the image that's downloaded better and either use the default (if registering) or skip modifying the image at all (if logging in).

Sorry for the troubles,
Alex

I turned ooff the avatar import...no change for my login issue. (Dang...had my hopes up a little...heheh.) And I'm running Jomsocial 2.2.4. (I think the oddest thing to me at least is that my front end login works perfectly if I use an admin account. But not for a registered account.)

And by the way...I saw about two avatars when I checked that page.

hey griz,
I didn't change the plugin - I disabled theavatar import directly in the component - since this change the login is working....
perhaps you can try that ;-)

Yes, talking about the "Import Avatar" setting in the Profiles configuration area of JFBConnect. We've successfully recreated the division by 0 error with the JomSocial plugin, and disabling that setting should fix it.. until Facebook's avatar distribution starts working again. We're looking into a fix for the profile plugin and/or JFBConnect, but it won't be for a little bit, and we're expecting Facebook to beat us to a fix.

Please try that and let us know,
Alex

Also, clear caches in Joomla after you make that change.

Yeah, that's where I disabled avatar imports...in the component. No luck.
