Hi Alex,

I get an 500 have a cherokee webserver with fast-cgi

the error I have in the logs before the crash is:

PHP Warning: getimagesize(/home/mike/www/cookingstar/web/de/tmp/jfbc_1788500386pic_tmp.jpg): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/mike/www/cookingstar/web/de/components/com_community/helpers/image.php on line 215

it's only a warning but I guess this have something to do with it

for ur info: the permissons allow everyone to write on tmp

best regards
mike

Mike,
Can you let me know the following:
1) Does the FB User have an avatar set, or is the default blue-face-shadow avatar?
2) Can you check the /tmp directory and see if any jfbc_xxxxxpic_tmp files are in there?
3) Do you have any off-site storage setup for JomSocial, like Amazon S3? This isn't common, as usually JomSocial is just configured to store avatars locally.
4) Can you post the URL of the 500 error? That helps us (sometimes) determine the problem.
5) Do you have any SEF extensions installed (other than core Joomla)? If so, can you try to set that extension to 'skip' SEF URLs for JFBConnect
6) Finally, make sure that the new user and returning user redirections are configured properly. Alternatively, set them to off and see what happens.

We'll get you going.. 4.0.3 will not have any affect on this though, unfortunately.

Hi Alex

That user created from this action is somewhat defect and it has no avatar at all

no files (exept an empty index.html)

Mike,
The avatar issue appears to be cleared up now. One of Facebook's caching servers went down, which caused a whole mess of issues. Either way, that was a temporary issue just from today, so I don't think that was your direct problem.

Please re-enable the avatar import and let us know if you still have the issue? If so, we'll need to get in to diagnose the problem... please make sure the credentials you PM'd earlier are still valid (or send new ones).

Thanks, and sorry for the troubles,
Alex

Hi Alex,
sorry for the late reply. I only can work on weekends on my website due the workload on businessdays
Yes you are right I re-nabled avatar import and I got the same errors

However now it works. But I'm not able to say why :(

I re-installed joomla (I took the new 1.71)
I updated my webserver
and I carefully installed my needed components/modules (always checkeing if Facebook-login with JFBConnect Breaks)

now I have all installed and it works :D
don't know the reason why

The good news for today

thanks for all Alex

regards - mike

Mike,
You were one of the first that was afflicted by a Facebook bug. A few hours after your post, we got several others. Basically, a Facebook caching/CDN server failed. This was causing it to not deliver avatars, which was then causing our JomSocial plugin to fail.

The other Profile plugins we have didn't fail, so it's also a flaw in the JomSocial plugin we have which we'll be fixing in a future release. In 3 years though, this is the first failure from FB that we'd seen like this, so we're not expecting it to happen again in the near future.

Hope that helps explain, and sorry for the confusion, inconvenience, and trouble. Should you run into anything else, definitely let us know!
