Installed JFB connect and the backend shows everything is installed properly.

I keep getting an error "warning: URL is unreachable" on all my blog pages but the article page shows up ok.

www.lowcountrycrossfit.com

I'm using the standard Joomla 1.6 SEF as well.

Also, when I go to the facebook page, it shows the bad URL link.

www.facebook.com/LowcountryCrossFit

I have tried reinstalling the extension and even did a complete new install in a different folder and got the same error!!!!

Ryan,
I responded to your email earlier today. We'd like to do some testing on your site to determine the cause, but the admin user you gave us credentials for doesn't have the permissions we need. Can you upgrade that user to a super admin so we can investigate this further?

The problem is not something we've seen before, and would like to get to the bottom of as well.

Thanks,
Alex

Ryan,
Just got into your site and checked things out a bit more. I didn't realize that you were running Joomla 1.6.1, but that is almost definitely the cause of the problem. 1.6.5 was the last of the 1.6 series, and there were hundreds of bug-fixes for different issues (and security problems) between 1.6.1 and 1.6.5. 1.7.0 is available now, is the 'newest' Joomla available, and is what we recommend using JFBConnect with.

In particular, even with 1.6.2 (which was the release available when JFBConnect was initially upgraded to support Joomla 1.6+, there were multiple issues regarding URL structure that was corrected with the 1.6.3 release. I can only imagine that those fixes are the same problems that you're running into issues with now with the SEF URL generation.

Sorry I didn't catch this earlier, but our only suggestion for now is to upgrade to 1.6.5 or 1.7.0, both of which should be generally easy upgrades as those are minor releases from 1.6.1 (not like the move from 1.5 to 1.6, if you dealt with that). For more information on upgrading Joomla, see:
docs.joomla.org/Upgrade_1.6.5_to_1.7

Good luck, and let us know if there's any other questions or issues you run into,
Alex

Alex,

I did the joomla update to 1.7.0 and the url unreachable is still there.

I'm stumped as the url has the correct article id and title but the link is still "bad"

We'll be in to check it out in just a moment. 1.7 was the biggest question mark, so with that out of the way, we can really debug what else might be causing it.

Thanks,
Alex

Ryan,
Whew. Investigated a bit on your site, but couldn't figure out the cause (though found the problem there). Then, we recreated your menu and category structure on our development server and narrowed things down there.

Ultimately, we found the issue and fixed it on your site. We're testing the change right now for Joomla 1.5 and J1.7 to make sure that it doesn't change URLs, just generates URLs the same way, in a different way. So far, so good, but please test. If our testing goes well, and you don't report any issues, this will go into the 4.0.2 release. That version was scheduled for today, but now will likely go out tomorrow or Sunday.

One final change we made was to remove the url=yoursite.com tag in the Open Graph defaults. You don't want to do that, as all Like buttons will then be for your home page, instead of the page the click occurred on (or the destination article in a blog view).

Hope that helps, and sorry for the delay and inconvenience with this issue,
Alex

Ryan,
That's great to hear. We're sorry for the trouble you ran into, but it was a combination of settings that was causing the issue, and just something we missed.

Just so you know, 4.0.2 was released yesterday which has the same fix that we implemented on your site, so you shouldn't experience this problem anymore in future releases. There were multiple other minor updates in 4.0.2, which we'd recommend you move to to make sure you don't run into any other known issues.

Thanks again for your patience, and good luck,
Alex
