Hi -

Authentication, system, user, content and jomsocial plugins show installed, but aren't showing up in my plugin manager. I have confirmed that they are on the server. Why aren't they in the plugin manager? Please help!

Thanks!

Never heard of that issue before. In the plugin manager, first, make sure that no filters are set (either the text filter or any of the drop-downs).

If they're still not visible, go to the Extension Manager and click on the "Manage" tab. Use the -Select Type- dropdown and set it to plugins and see if they're there. If not, click into the "Discover" tab, and click the Discover icon in the top right. If they appear in the main area, click the checkbox and then click the Install icon.

This discovery step is new in Joomla 1.6, and allows for extensions to be installed if the files are present. While each of those plugins should have been installed when you installed the main component, it's possible something weird happened, and hopefully, this will fix it.

Please let us know how it goes, or if you run into any other issues!

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the great support! That was it. Not sure what happened on install. Now, everything is running and configured but there is no Facebook Connect button on the main page login form. Am I missing something else?

Also, we are content and social site. In your opinion, is it better to use com_user and redirect into jom social custom profile fields, or is it better to somehow make jom social the default login?

Thanks again!

I think I got it now. JFBC login actually superseeds both logins. By using it, you don't have to worry about jomsocial (because you use the plugin) or the com_user, right?

No problem for the support. It's what we do. Thanks for your subscription which allows us too.

I think you're correct in what you're saying. Basically, with JFBConnect, we'll automatically create the Joomla and JomSocial user when someone registers through Facebook. If you install the JomSocial profile plugin, then you can import the user's Facebook profile and avatar into JomSocial as well. For users that don't have a Facebook account (or don't want to use it), they can still register a 'normal' Joomla user.. and that can be done via the normal registration flows of either Joomla (com_user) or JomSocial.

Finally, after you've used JFBConnect a bit, please consider leaving a rating and review on the Joomla Extension Directory for it, or our support. It's certainly not required, but very appreciated!

Hope that helps, but if you have any other questions, just let us know!
