For some obscure reason thelink button won't allow 2 people to like thesame thing on a site I've put it on.

Try to like this item www.forevertangles.com/art/product/show/28-zebra-bee it's adds your name to the like list then immediately removes it. it's a little site I quickly put together for my wifes hobby so the person who liked that item is my wife, when I click like as well it just doesn't work, also she can't 'like' other items thatI've liked on there either. Obviously we have sperate Facebook accounts but we are friends on each others so it would show us our Facebook images.

Whats causing the issue and how can I fix it please?

Also when somebody clicks like they don't get to choose which image it uses, so it shows a different image to the item they are 'liking' can that be changed ?

I look forward to your always very prompt and helpful reply.

Thanks
Huw

Also the facebook login button doesn’t work on there either!

It's on the checkout pages when it wants you to sign up / login.

It redirects to an unknown page :(

I even tried putting it in a module position on the left too and that still wdoesn'tork.

Huw,
Because your site is new, Facebook likely hasn't scanned it yet. I'd recommend enabling the Open Graph integration in JFBConnect's Social configuration area, which will do most of the work for you. Then, as Facebook sees your site (through normal page visits), it will start clearing up the issue.

As a test, I liked the page below with one of my user accounts. Then, I logged in with a different Facebook user and saw the issue:
www.forevertangles.com/words/product/show/8-jessica-a4
Then, I used the Facebook Linter, which forces Facebook to scan your page, and then I was able to Like it with the 2nd user. The linter can be found:
developers.facebook.com/tools/lint

Hope that helps explain. Even without Open Graph enabled, this will start clearing itself up.. but basically, it's Facebook checking to make sure that the page being liked isn't spammy, malicious, or generally unknown.

As for the redirection on registration, what menu item do you have set in the Login/Logout Redirection section of JFBConnect? Is that a valid menu item to redirect to? If so, what SEF extension are you using on that site?

Thanks,
Alex

Ah I see what you mean. It's already working by this morning :) didn't realise Facebook did those sort of checks.

As for the login, I've set it to redirect to a page now this morning ( would prefer it not to redirect at all and stay where you were). It now redirects to the correct page but it hasn't actually logged you in!

Could you try to login and see what happens for you please?

Also I just realised this morning that although I've set the software to send me email notifications, I'm not getting them when somebody 'likes' things.
It's worked on other sites so I'm not sure if I've just missed something in the setup?

If you want to disable new user redirection, you can try the details in the post below. We've made a task to add an option to disable new user redirection, and will likely get it in a near-future update:
www.sourcecoast.com/forums/jfbconnect/jf...direction?p=1#p11451

As for not getting the emails, from what I can see on the front-end, the emails should be sent. Just make sure a real/usable email address is configured in the Social area and make sure that the emails aren't going to your spam folder. Also, try with comments vs likes to see if one comes while the other doesn't.. that will help us narrow things down if there is indeed an issue.

Thanks, and good luck,
Alex

Huw,
The login seems to work for me. I just used the button and it created my account and logged me in as expected. I then logged out (had to go to index.php?option=com_users&task=logout because the logout button was missing from the login area).. and then logged back in without issue.

If you're still having issues, please try with a different FB account, in a different browser, or at least closing your browser (to clear cache).

Hope that helps, but if not, let us know a little more details on how to recreate the problem.

Thanks,
Alex
