I just transferred my site to it's permanent location and shortly after I did I started getting a redirect loop error in Chrome and firefox both. IE just spins and acts stupid, which is what it usually does.

Please Please help. The launch of the site is a big bust atm.

Another note I had to re enter all my FB developer stuff...the ID and secret etc.

Cresap,
Sorry for the delayed response. That's never good to hear when things break during a transfer. When are you seeing the redirect loop? Is it when you try to login, or on every page, or some other event that causes it?

Can you check or let us know the following:
1) Did you change anything during the move, especially SEF related, that you didn't have on the previous site?
2) Did you change other things during the move that may help us debug and diagnose the issue
3) Did you update your Facebook Application to use the new Site and Domain URLs for the new location?

Beyond that, I don't have many great guesses. Can you let us know the URL of your site? I found a URL in an old post that had /joomla in it.. Did you just move it to the root of that domain, because if so, I'm seeing the Akeeba installer on that page..

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

It is happening on every page, or was before I went to re-install the backup on the root site. Now it hangs on the installation and I'm having to go back and re-do the install from a different back-up.

Right before I made the move, maybe 2 days before, I was getting an API error whenever I tried to log in with Facebook. I had set up another app with Facebook for another app on this site. I figured that the second app creation was causing the log in issue so I decided to wait until i made the move to try and fix it. After the move everything worked fine except for the login. I went to facebook development and entered the app id and secret word etc into JFBC. I logged in after doing that and everything was fine for about 5 minutes. I was clicking through my menu tabs and went to a menu link that is a sub domain for my forum and went I tried to go back it started giving me the redirect loop errors. Since then everything just did the same thing with the error and not being able to enter the site at all. I tried it on all browsers here on my personal machine. I tried it with other computers in my office. I had off site people check it and all got the same thing. If they are using firefox or chrome they get the rediret errors if they are using IE it just spins and never resolves.

I did go in and turn on SEF after the error showed up to see if that would help. It didn't so I turned it back off and that didn't help either.

The only thing that changed was updating the FB app stuff on JFBC.

I'm going to try and get the backup installed on the main site and will post back when that happens.

I'm seeing the error when I click on the Login With Facebook button. My immediate guess is that you don't have the Site and Domain URL's setup for your application properly. Please check the application (in Facebook) to make sure these fields are setup as:
Site URL: www.chefcresap.com/
Domain URL: chefcresap.com

Hopefully, that will fix you right up. If not, obviously make sure your App ID, App Key and Secret Key is correct. There should be no issue with having multiple applications created in Facebook, but just make sure you're making changes to the 'right' app that you're using on your site.

One final note, you look to be using JFBConnect 3.3.0. The newest version, 3.3.1 was released late last week. There are a number of improvements in the newer release which may help, but there have been no issues similar to what you're reporting, so I can't guarantee this will fix your current problem.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes!

Oh, finally, if you login to Facebook in a tab of your browser with the user that created the application your using on your site, many times, when you try to click the Login With Facebook button, you'll get a more specific error other than "An error has been encountered". If you can let us know what that error is, it may help us a bit to diagnose the problem.

Well it was kind of as I feared. I changed the facebook app web settings and can log in now. The problem is, when anyone logs in with FB they get the redirect loop error and nothing will load. Sometimes it works when you log in with FB on the home page, but as soon as you go to a different page the redirect loop kicks in.

Once I tried it and the screen filled with blue text regarding logging in, there were about 100 lines of the same thing. Below that there were about 100 lines with red text regarding not being able to log in.

Cresap,
I just tried to register on the site, and I'm getting the following PHP error:

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '/home/chefcre1/public_html/administrator/components/com_comprofiler/plugin.foundation.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/chefcre1/public_html/plugins/jfbcprofiles/communitybuilder/communitybuilder.php on line 136

That error indicates that Joomla thinks you have the JFBConnect Community Builder profile plugin installed and enabled, but in fact, the files for it are missing. Do you know why this would be, as obviously, that's not good. From looking at your site, I see JomSocial is installed, but can't find CB anywhere.

Hope this helps you start down the investigation path, but please let us know what you find or anything you know about the CB integration on your site as that will definitely help us give you better suggestions.

Fantastic! Very glad to hear we got you setup, and hopefully, that will be the last of your issues.

One final note, for a live website, you should generally leave Error Reporting set to None. While the PHP error was convenient for me to see what was happening, if they show up on the page, they can make it look bad, and give information away about your site's configuration that you may not want seen. Just a suggestion to turn it off now.

Finally, now that you've played with JFBConnect and our support a bit, please consider leaving a rating and review on the Joomla Extension Directory. It's certainly not required, but definitely helps us out:
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/social-...ook-integration/7215

Best of luck to you and your site. Should you run into any other issues, you know where to find us!
