Hello! I have installed JFBConnect (ver. 3.3.0) for Joomla 1.6. In MISC section of administration panel of this component there is the following setting:

Show Powered By Link: YES\NO (If this is set to Yes, shows Powered By Link at the bottom of the Login/Register page)

I set this preference to NO but it has no effect: I go on seeing "Show Powered By JFBConnect" label at the bottom of the Login/Register page !! :(

Can someone help me to hide it?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Luca

p.s: I have Joomla 1.6.3 installed.

The setting in the Misc panel is for the Login/Register page, so I'm not sure why you're seeing it. We'll investigate further, but also please check if you have any of the other JFBC modules that would be showing on that page. Each module has it's own "Show Powered By" option, so you may need to disable it there as well.

We'll let you know what we find, and please let us know if the module setting above may be related.

Thanks,
Alex

On the same subject, could you tell me specifically (as in I'm pretty stupid and new to all this) how to turn off the powered by on the "like us" module?

Thank you for your time and for the great product.

P.S. if I sent you an FO from North Avenue would you help me? :)

I don't see the Like button on the page you sent, but in the JFBCLike module there should be a "Show Powered By" setting which you can simply disable. Hope that helps, but if not, you know where to find us.

Not familiar with an FO... but intrigued :)

Sorry about that, I had disabled it to try and fix the template problem and then got called away from my computer. It is back up now. I have tried multiple times under the configuration area to set it to no and it still shows.

A Fo is a Frosted Orange. From the Varsity...you know, the North Avenue Trade School Cafeteria.

Oops. i just re-read your post and found what you're talking about. I like the fact that it can be turned on and off by module as I want to give you credit but I'm trying to keep the front page as clean as possible.

I saw in your about sction that you went to GT. I live about 10 miles north of there, my brother went there, and my girlfriend in high school went there, many many moons ago.

I'm assuming you found the setting from your statement above, but if not, just let me know. We understand about cleanliness on your site. You subscribed to our extension, you're welcome to never tell anyone what you're using :) The main people the leave it enabled are those that are part of our affiliate program, which only makes sense on some sites anyways.. so no worries there. Thank you for supporting us!

As for the Frosted Orange, ahh yes. It's been a while since I've been in Atlanta, and even when I lived there, I wasn't frequenting The Varsity too often.. and my body is still thanking me now :) Love the town though, great place. Graduated Squeaked by in 2002 :)

If you need anything else, just let us know, and good luck!

Thanks for all your great help.
I have a new issue that has developed now. www.chefcresap.com/joomla when I go to the home page there is a new facebook comment bar that appears as the top of my main content. It is there whether I have the like module enabled or not.

Any suggestions?

Last time I hung out at GT was in 1989...except for the brief stint hanging out with some athletes in 1996 during the Olympics....to clarify, I was not one of those athletes as I spent plenty of time at the Varsity. :)

Of course we have a suggestion! You likely have the Content Plugin enabled. That plugin is meant to insert the Like and Comment box into articles automatically. You can configure the specific sections, categories, and articles for the Like or Comment box in the Social tab of the JFBConnect administrator area. Simply set "Front Page" to Hide for both if you don't want them automatically.

This method is the best and easiest way to add the Like and Comment box to normal articles, and we'd recommend using it where you can. Generally, the Like and Comment modules should be used when you don't like the positioning of the Content Plugin or on non-article content.

As for GT, I wasn't a huge Varsity guy, but there was a restaurant around the block from there called Tortillas. Best, best, best burritos I've ever had. I came to Texas looking for something even close, and found something decent, but not comparable (still eat there today though). Went back to Atlanta in 2004, and first stop off the plane was Tortillas. They closed 1 month later. I don't think I can ever go back to Atlanta now. It may just crush me.

Your fix worked of course... might help if I actually looked at all the options for configuring...RTFM...I know. lol

What would you do if I gave you that recipe for a super burrito?
Here is the link. Charlie submitted this himself about 3 years ago. silentkids.com/tortillas.shtml

I ate there when I was a teenager about a month after they opened. I worked forever to duplicate that recipe but never got it right. I was able to duplicate McDonald's French Fries to the letter but could never nail this one until a chef friend of mine told me about Charlie posting this.

Enjoy!
