The problem is most likely that the Sami language isn't supported by Facebook? Can you use the page below to search for the language locale you're using?

If it's not there, then the Facebook Javascript library won't load. If it can't load, then the buttons will dissappear, like you mention. If not, you can use the Configuration -> Facebook API -> Facebook Language Locale Override setting of JFBConnect to 'force' a language to be used on all pages. Unfortunately though, that will work for all languages, so if you chose en_GB, that's all users would see (even if Norwegian would be better).

If you find a code that would work as a replacement for the Sami language, we can likely help you add some quick code to switch the Sami code to the new one just inside JFBConnect (not affecting JoomFish at all).

Are you sure they ever had Sami? If it's not supported, you can try to use their Feedback form for apps. Not sure if you'll get a real response, but it's the best way to let them know that they should support a feature:
