Hello,

Is there a setting that allows you to log-out users, so they have to log back in via fbconnect module after a session expires? When a user logs in via fbconnect and the session expires in joomla/jomsocial, they can log back in by just clicking the fbconnect login button. Any tips greatly appreciated!

Thanks and excellent tool, very easy to use, and setup!

I'm not exactly sure what you mean, actually. When the user's Joomla session expires, the user should definitely be logged out, regardless of whether they logged in with Joomla or with Facebook / JFBConnect.

As for clicking the Login With Facebook button, that will bypass the username/password popup if the user is already logged into Facebook. There's no way for us to log the user out of Facebook without them clicking the Logout button on your site (and you have the Logout of Joomla Only setting at 'no').

Hope that explains if I'm correct in what you were looking for, but if not, let us know! Other than that, very, very happy to hear JFBConnect is going smoothly for you. We work hard to have powerful features that are easy to use. We don't always hit that target, but are always looking to improve. Any feedback you may have is always welcome!

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the response, that does make sense. If a user does use the log-out button, they are logged out of both. Is it possible to clear the session in a manner that mimics the log-out process? I would like to have the users that log into the site via the Login With Facebook button have to re-log back in if they allow their session to expire.

Thanks again for the assistance,
Erskeen

Erskeen,
I believe there are ways that we could log them out of Facebook if their session on your site expires. However, we wouldn't implement that in JFBConnect and would recommend you not either. The reason is that many users simply let their sessions expire instead of clicking the Logout button on your site. If you decide that your site will log them out of Facebook as well, that could be very confusing for the user who may not understand while they're logged out of Facebook. They may even be using Facebook (after leaving your site) when your site happens to log them out, which would be inconvenient as well.

In short, many users choose to use the "Leave me logged into Facebook" option on FB.com and auto-logging them out when they've never clicked a Logout button just sounds like a bad idea.

Hope that all makes sense,
Alex

No problem for the quick response. It's what we do. We also love hearing from our users on how they would like things to work. Obviously, we'll try to steer you away from things we don't think you should do, but most of our features have come from user requests/suggestions in the past!

Anyways, best of luck, and should you need anything else, just let us know! Finally, if you haven't already, please consider leaving a rating and review on the Joomla Extension Directory for JFBConnect and/or our support:

Thanks,
Alex
