Hi!

I recently bought the JFBConnect component and added it to 3 of my four sites. Everything was working well, but then today I added my fourth and final site and all of a sudden all my sites went down. Any idea what could be wrong? The facebook debugger gives me no errors.

Any idea what could have happened?

Not from your description. Could you explain a bit more as to what isn't working? Is it the login functionality, page integration, social widgets, etc? Do you get any errors when it's not working, or is there missing buttons, or the user simply isn't logged in, etc.

Any more information you can provide will greatly help us come up with some solutions.

As for the only guess I have from your brief description of multiple sites is to make sure that you're not using the same App ID and Secret key for all of them (unless they are all on the same domain). Beyond that, if *all* sites broke, the best guess I'd have is that somehow Facebook disabled all of your apps. They have the ability to do that for spam or malicious activities, but in 3 years, we've honestly never had a user report that, so I doubt that's it.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the fast reply!

Everything is back again now, without any interaction on my part. The stuff I had put on my sites were simply my own { JFBLike } module and your content likes for articles and kunena integration. Everything was gone, no error message or nothing. Just empty spaces. Where there was a Login button on kunena it simply said "Login using facebook". I used different app ids on all the sites so that was not it.

Maybe I was getting blocked, since I liked about 20 articles myself for template integration and testing purposes (but I really like them, I swear) ;-)

Anyways, thanks for your time. I'll be more carefull with what I like from now on.

Cheers!

Nah, likely not any action on your part. Like'ing 20 things is nothing, in Facebook's eyes. I would recommend not un-Like'ing them though as that can falsely give your app a bad reputation (you don't want people un-like'ing things, it's like marking an email as spam).

Most likely, your issue was just a hiccup in loading the Facebook Javascript libraries. The effects you mention are exactly what would happen in that case. That can either be a problem from your computer connecting to Facebook or a problem with Facebook itself. Since it happened across multiple sites, that also likely explains that it's more 'not you' than it is something underlying all the sites.

Either way, it's fixed now, and hopefully, you won't run into any other issues. If you run into anything else though, just let us know!

Finally, please consider leaving a rating and review on the Joomla Extension Directory for JFBConnect, or our support. It's certainly not required, but very appreciated!

Thanks, and good luck,
Alex

Strangely enough this is appearing again, but only in the Chrome browser. Me and my friend here both have the issue. I have tested opera, ie, safari and ff and they all work correctly.

Karl,
Very, very sorry for not getting back to this sooner. I was just going through back-unanswered posts and caught this one.

Are you still having issues? If so, definitely let us know and we can investigate further. We know now that Facebook made some Javascript changes in early July that affected multiple sites in different ways. Most of those issues have been resolved by them (no JFBConnect changes were required), but if you are still having problems, please let us know!

Thanks,
Alex
