I do see the "Your Page Tab application appears to be setup properly." Then I clicked the "CLICK HERE" and saw the JFBConnect appear in the FB Page, so I think I'm still moving forward with this configuration except that I never found a way to click the PLUS SIGN and locate my client's APP.

I even got JFBConnect upgraded successfully, so now I may be ready to start configuring the discount coupon. Sounds like I need to configure something in FB to discuss the coupon and what they will get if they click the LIKE button. Does that sound about right?

When I click the link below, I get an error:
Your Canvas application appears to be setup properly. To see what it looks like, click the following link: apps.facebook.com/winwatermarksoftware

The error is:
An error occurred during a connection to www.winwatermark.com.
SSL received a record that exceeded the maximum permissible length.
(Error code: ssl_error_rx_record_too_long)

Is this something I have to resolve within FB or JFBConnect?

I'm not sure, but I think my problem stems from having the FB Page the same name as the FB App. Would that cause problems? Gawd, I hate FB right now. Way too confusing!

Ok, new question. I will need to create an article that talks about the discount coupon and a second article that has the coupon code, which I'll use after someone clicks the LIKE button. Am I close?

Toolkit,
Sorry for the delay. For the error you're getting when viewing your App, it seems to be an SSL certificate problem on your site. If I go to the SSL version of your site directly (outside of Facebook), I get a similar error:
www.winwatermark.com/
Do you have an SSL certificate for your website? That's a requirement for the App Canvas or Page Tabs.

The App and Page Tab can have the same name. That's not a problem at all. The App Name really isn't used for much. The Page Tab name is simply a name used for helping 'find' the app if someone is searching for it. When you add an "App" to your Page Tab, you have the ability to change the name that users will see under the little box as well, so really, you shouldn't worry about the names of anything much as it can all easily be changed later...

Finally, yes, you have the right idea about the coupon code. To do what you're looking for, you should:
* Create an article saying "Like Us and get a coupon!". Fancy that up however you want :)
* In the JFBConnect Page Tab configuration area, set the Reveal Page ID to whatever article ID you created above. That will make JFBConnect show that article to user's who haven't Like'd your Page yet.
* Set the Page Tab URL and Secure Page Tab URLs to the URL on your site that user's should go to *after* Likeing your Page.. in other words, an article page with the actual coupon on it. JFBConnect defaults these URLs to your home page. You'll need to update them to some other 'interior' page on your site.

Hope that explains, but as always, if you have other questions, just let me know!

Well no wonder! Had no idea an SSL certificate is a requirement for the App Canvas or Page Tabs. Big ole DUH! So first things first, I need my client to purchase an SSL certificate. For me to pull off the discount coupon configuration, an SSL is mandatory. True statement? That's a whole new ball of wax to advise/convince my client that he needs an SSL cert to get this discount coupon thing going. hhhhmmmm

And the ONLY reason to create a Page Tab is to make it easy for users to find the APP (by way of the FB Business Page) and to obtain another LIKE (good for business exposure) and subsequently the user gets a discount coupon in return.

I have the article created and placed on the front page of the website. I'll need a second article with the actual discount coupon, but hide it behind the SSL. So the URL might look something like: www.winwatermark.com/article-alias.html

So am I finally becoming "learnt" in the FB world? Gosh I hope so.

Can't thank you enough for your patience and helpful replies, Alex. Just don't tell anyone I'm this thick!

New question: This client sells the software at RegNow, using (of all things) https to make those purchases. I don't suppose I can get around the SSL for the website and use RegNow, can I? Be kind with your reply if this is a really ignorant question. :-)

All your statements about SSL are correct above. If you haven't already, I'd highly recommend checking out our Page Tab & Canvas configuration guide. It details the requirements for setting things up and tries to give some helpful pointers along the way:
www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/facebook-page-canvas-setup

For SSL, you can get them for under $20/year (and as little as about $10/year if you buy one for a few years). Some hosts don't let you install your own though, so that could be a problem, but if you think it's even modestly worth the promotion, the expense isn't too bad.. Though it may take a little work to get SSL setup. We have a guide for obtaining and installing SSL certs on the page below (though every host is different, so it may not be perfect for your needs):
www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/comm...ficates-for-facebook

Finally, nope, you can't use RegNow's SSL. The page you direct user's to for Page Tabs/Canvas must be on the same domain as your application. That's for security purposes, or a 'bad person' could create an app for one (trusted) site and shuttle the user to a malicious page behind Facebook's back. Shared SSL certificates on some hosts similarly won't work as they require the user to go to a different domain, like yoursitename.godaddy.com/ Since your app would be keyed to yoursitename.com and not godaddy.com, it wouldn't work.

Hope that all explains, but if you have questions, as always, just let us know!

Excellent information, Alex! I looked up SSL certs on host and they're $70. That's why I asked. And something tells me the SSL has to come from the hosting provider where the website resides, so that may have to be the big ole purchase to get this discount coupon configured properly. Guess it's time to ping the host to see if these "other" SSL certs will work on their domains.

Thanks again - great info!

Yeah, some hosts require you purchase a cert from them and have them install it. If you're using a shared hosting account, that may be the case. VPS's or more individually managed accounts generally will let you install your own cert. That route is definitely cheaper for the cert, but the hosting bill is generally a little more each month (for other features).

Anyways, sorry the SSL thing came as a shock. Definitely could have mentioned it earlier, but figured you may have checked the guide :)
