Hi,
I renewed my subscription today, and updated my JFB 4.1.2 to 4.2.2 on joomla 1.5.26.
I get always
"getAuthorization - Error: Could not communicate with SourceCoast.com to fetch up-to-date information."
in the autotune-setup.
I have copied and pasted my Subscriber ID from the SourceCoast website in the wright field.
Further I get in components>JFBconnect>overview always this php-error:
JFBConnect Extension Check
Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [simplexmlelement.--construct]: Entity: line 5: parser error : Opening and ending tag mismatch: META line 2 and HEAD in /home/.sites/62/site359/web/administrator/components/com_jfbconnect/assets/sourcecoast.php on line 108
Warning: SimpleXMLElement::__construct() [simplexmlelement.--construct]: in /home/.sites/62/site359/web/administrator/components/com_jfbconnect/assets/sourcecoast.php on line 108
......
and the best of it:
On the frontend nothing works!

Any suggestions to this problem?
best regards!

The Extension Check and Autotune both communicate using XML files being passed back and forth. My best, initial guess, is that there's an issue communicating with SourceCoast.com to fetch the right information. Do you have a firewall or anything else that would block outgoing connections? That would make sense if improper (or no) XML was being returned.

If you were using a previous version of JFBConnect, then Autotune or the Extension Check aren't required. Your app should already be configured and hopefully the extensions are up-to-date since you just upgraded. There's no requirement to use Autotune and connect to our server for updated information, it just helps get things going quicker.

Some things to test to diagnose the problem on the front-end. I'm assuming you're getting a white-page, but if it's something else (an error message, functionality not working, etc), let us know:
1) If you're using Profile Plugins, make sure you updated those to 4.2.x as well
2) Set "Error Reporting" in the Joomla Global Configuration area to "maximum". Check your front page. If an error is reported, let us know what that is and we can help you narrow down why you're getting it.
3) Check if you have any firewalls or other 'security' extensions or server configuration stuff enabled that would prevent communication with either sourcecoast.com or facebook.com
4) Go to Help->System Information and then "PHP Information". Search for "SimpleXML" and make sure it says that it's enabled.

Hope that helps get you started,
Alex

Hi,
many thanx for the quick reply:
I have checked the points.
SimpleXML is enabled.
here is the error-report of the overview-site:

Required Extensions Installed Available Status
Firewall is disabled.
I don't use profiles.
I updated all modules and plugins from the installationfolder. (where is the 4.2.2 jfbinvite module?)
in the error check all tests are passed.

best regards!

Mark,
Definitely a strange error. Would it be possible to have admin access to your site to debug what's going on? Some sort of communication error is definitely going on, but I can't determine what it is.

If so, please Private Message me a set of Super Admin credentials. You can PM me by clicking the arrow under my picture (<----) and hitting the mail icon.

Thanks,
Alex

Hello, I'm having the same error too. Can you help me as well?

*edit* Oops! Just realized this was for 1.5. Should I move my issue to 2.5?

You can leave the post here, that's not a problem if the issue is the same.

We never were able to diagnose the problem on Mark's site above... we never received credentials to login to test with. If you are interested in Private Messaging us a set of Super Admin details, we'll gladly take a look to see what we can figure out.

Thanks,
Alex

Hello,

You seem to be a pretty busy guy, but if you could just let me know if you received my credentials that would be great. Thanks.

Sorry, yes, we received them. I was planning to be testing in the next few hours. Weekends are usually for 'critical' issues, which this doesn't seem to be.

We'll let you know what we find, and thanks for your patience!
Alex
