Hi,

I am new to JFBConnect. My brother is using JFBConnect on his website to Login and Comment. now i am taking care of this website and want to know some ting about this tool.
My CMS : Joomla 1.5
JFBConnect : 4.0

1- if i change the CMS Version or the TEMPLATE of the website, the COMMENTS made by many users using their facebook account will remain or can be deleted? it means can i import or export that old comments if change the joomla version or install new one?
( I want to make new joomla installation and then import all old website data along with comments.)

2- can i manage or delete the spam comments ?

3- can i be a moderator of the comment system to approve or disapprove any comment before submision?

Umair,
First off, JFBConnect v4.0 is quite old. We'd highly recommend having your brother upgrade. The newest release is v4.2, and has a lot of improvements and bug-fixes over the release you are apparently using.

Regarding your other questions:
1) Switching a template won't remove your comments as long as the URL stays the same. The comments are tied to a specific URL. There's no way to import or export comments, they are all stored on Facebook.
2) Yes, you can delete or mark comments as spam.
3) Yes, you can have multiple moderators (even for specific sections of your site) who have the ability to moderate comments.

If you need help setting up #2 or #3, we can gladly help. However, please have your brother post this this thread using his account with an active subscription. Priority support for help setting up things like moderation for comments is for active subscribers only, and is included with the subscription.

Thanks,
Alex

Thank You Alex.

1- if the comments are tied with specific URL then changing the CMS or install new joomla it will change the URLs of article and comments will be gone.

2- yes i ll surely ask him to contact with his account to get more help from you. :)

The comments are tied to URLs on your site. When you upgrade Joomla, the URLs may or may not stay the same, depending on the component that's being displayed. You may need to set redirects to make sure that the old URL still works. Additionally, within JFBConnect, there are ways to show comments from page 'a' (using the old URL) on page 'b' (the new URL). It can be a little tricky, but we can help.

Hope that explains,
Alex
