Tony,
We haven't heard of that issue before. Can you let us know what version of MySQL you are using? Also, was that the whole error message, or were there any other details that you could provide?

Finally, make sure you were using the Joomla 1.5 installation package of JFBConnect to install.

Let us know the info to the above, and we'll gladly help you get through this.

Thanks,
Alex

Tony,
We're always quick.. but you also just hit us about an hour after we release JFBConnect v4.2.. so we're monitoring things even more closely than normal just to make sure there aren't any oddities.

I don't think your problem is from the new release though, just something strange going on that we'll need to dig into. Can you let me know a little bit more information:
1) Is this a new Joomla installation?
2) Did you use a 'One-Click' installation type thing for Joomla, provided by your webhost?
3) Was there any more to the error you posted the first time, especially anything looking like a SQL query so we can narrow down the exact line(s) causing the error?
4) If you try again to install JFBConnect, does this happen every time? Is it always the same message?

Thanks, and sorry for the trouble. If we can't make any progress through the forums, I may ask you to send admin credentials, if that's ok, so we can take a look. You can Private Message them to me using the arrow under my name (<----) and hitting the mail icon.

I must commend you guys on your response.

So here it goes:

1. I think I'm being a dick. When I can't install something that seems so obvious I think I am a complete twat!
1. It's an installation I made years ago upgraded with security releases.
2. No
3. Yes loads of SQL errors like trying to create a database in red at top of page.
4. Yes same message

Yes of course I can give you an admin to resolve it

Thanks
Tony

Tony,
No worries. We'll help you get it going. I'm assuming that you obviously don't have this problem with other extensions..

If you could, please Private Message me the admin details so I can get in and take a look at your configuration. Please create a backup of your site, if you haven't already. We haven't ever broke someone's site, but we don't want yours to be the first. Since there's DB problems, that's also means that there may have to be something weird to fix it. We'll check with you before we make any drastic changes, of course.

Thanks,
Alex

Tony (and others reading this),
We just updated the JFBConnect v4.2.0 file. The problem you were experiencing comes down to an annoyingly missing semi-colon in one of our SQL files. Please delete the file you originally downloaded, grab the new release, and try to install again.

Normally, we'd increment the version number, but 4.2.0 has been out for such a short period and not downloaded enough that we thought it warranted it.

Please let us know if the new file fixes your issue, or if you still run into issues.

Thanks,
Alex

Just had confirmation from another user that the new file fixes the problem. Sorry again for the trouble, and obviously let us know if you still run into issues with this, or anything else.

On a side note, we loosened our firewall restrictions a bit. It was over-aggressively blocking some posts with SQL. Sorry about that... too :)

Thanks,
Alex
