Hello, I have read previous posts about this topic, but I am still not able to moderate comments in k2 articles.

I have added my app_id to Open Graph in Joomla, enabled it, and waited a week. Nothing..

The backup plan, the link to Facebook moderation (developers.facebook.com/tools/comments) does not work. Is there another url?

The last resort seems to be to add my "admin" to "open graph" in the Joomla component. How do I find my "admin" code?

Best regards

Can you post a link to the page you're testing with?

The app_id parameter is automatically added by JFBConnect nowadays, so you shouldn't need to add it to the defaults section of the Open Graph area. With the app_id, whenever an admin of your Facebook application is logged into Facebook and visits your site, the moderate button should show. The ID you use for the admin tag can be found in the User Map area of JFBConnect, if you've logged in using Facebook on your site. Hover over your FB avatar, and the URL for the link will contain your ID.

The admins tag really shouldn't be necessary though with the app_id, so my guess is there's another issue with the page.. which is why the URL will help :)

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks Alex,

We don't use the "login with Facebook" option yet, because all we use at the moment are the Comment and Like functions. But I am logged in to Facebook, and my avatar shows up when I go to a K2 article on my site.

The "User Map" area of JFBConnect is empty, maybe that is a problem..?

Here is a link to one of our articles with comments: www.thailandstidende.com/component/k2/it...alt-ga-til-barnehjem

Dag,
Thanks for the link. I think I see the issue now. On the left-hand sidebar, you have a Like button and a Like-Box (Fan Page module). Both of those are re-including the Facebook Javascript API file (all.js) and one of them is also inserting a different Application ID than the one you're using for JFBConnect.

I'd recommend switching those to use the JFBCLike and JFBCFan modules from JFBConnect. Alternatively, simply edit whatever module you are using there and remove the inclusion of the Javascript that's inserting the all.js file. JFBConnect automatically does that on the page, so doing it 2 more times will cause conflicts and simply slow down the page load time.

Hope that helps,
Alex

Hi Alex,

I have now switched to using the JFBCFan module (which includes a Like function as well), but I still don't get to delete or edit comments..

Dag,
The JFBCFan module is meant to show the stream from your Facebook Page. Additionally, it will only show posts that are made by the Page itself or by administrators of the Page. It will not show comments or posts from general users on your page.

Because of that, there's no way to hide or moderate entries in the stream of the JFBCFan module.. they should all be 'trusted' already since they come from an administrator of the page.

If you want comments on your site, you should be using the JFBCComments module or the social plugin to add the comment box to content. If you set that back up again, and still can't get the moderate function to work, let us know.

Hope that explains,
Alex

Hi Alex,

I think there is a misunderstanding. If you look at your previous reply, you can see that you recommended using the JFBCFan module instead of my original fanbox module (left hand side of webpage). This is not related to the comments, that I still have at the bottom of each k2 article as a plugin. Example: www.thailandstidende.com/component/k2/it...alt-ga-til-barnehjem

Also, I have stopped getting notice via mail when somebody posts comments at my site.

Dag,
Sorry for the confusion. I mis-understood your post, obviously.

I'm not seeing anything at all wrong with the page now. The other Javascript inclusion is gone, and there shouldn't be anything preventing the Moderate button from showing. Additionally, the Facebook URL debug tool shows no real problems:
developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/o...alt-ga-til-barnehjem

Facebook does cache page information for a few days. If you just removed the other Fan module, that could be the problem. The Debug tool above should clear the cache, so try again.. but you also may need to wait a day or so on all the other pages.

If that doesn't work, also try the Comment Moderation tool link again (developers.facebook.com/tools/comments) and see if that has any results. Again though, Facebook is likely simply confused due to the duplicate Javascript, and hopefully will simply clear itself up shortly.

Finally, for the comment email, I can't say I know the cause of that either. It sounds like it did work at some point.. do you remember if there were any changes that happened around the time it stopped working? Check the email you have setup in the admin area, and try to only use one address (for now). If you need to use multiple addresses, use a comma to separate them, not a newline. Also, obviously, check your spam folder.

If none of that works, please try with a different template (temporarily) to see if that helps. Your current template has a lot of Javascript, which shouldn't be a problem, but a more basic template may help narrow down the possible causes.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks,

It is about 2 weeks since I made the changes, so I believe cache problems can be excluded.

I tried to open your link developers.facebook.com/tools/comments but I get Server Error repeatedly..??

It was another guy who installed this system, so I am thinking now that perhaps I am not set up as admin. I am admin in Joomla, but perhaps not as Facebook sees it. Could you tell me how I can check who is admin?

The more worrysome fact now is that I don't get noification for new comments. I have had listed the same email address since the very beginning, but the notification just stopped coming a while back.. It is not in spam.. Before I start experimenting with a new template is there any cause you can think of?

Dag,
You are definitely correct in your thinking. Only the administrator of the Facebook application, not the Joomla site, will see the moderate link or be able to use Facebook's comment moderation tool. If you go to developers.facebook.com/apps, you can see what applications you are an administrator of. If none show up there, or if yours is missing, you'll need to ask your developer to access the FB Application and add you as an administrator. An app can have unlimited admins, so it shouldn't be a problem to add you.

As for comment emails, I just left a comment to make sure there were no Javascript errors in calling our code. There didn't appear to be any, which is a good thing.

Can you add my email address to the notifications box to see if I receive them. In the box, simply set it up as

<your_email>,This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Then, feel free to comment, remove my name, and let me know to check my email. I'll let you know if I get anything.

Thanks,
Alex
