Hi,

I've been looking into inporting the birthday field from facebook into jomsocial. To cut a long story short, facebook now have a string format for birthday date which is the same regardless of locale.

developers.facebook.com/docs/reference/rest/users.getInfo/ (birthday_date instead of birthday)

This should now be easy to implement into jfbconnect and a much welcomed i would think.

Assuming this would become part of jfbconnect next upgrade could i ask how i can implement this into your existing code.

many thanks in advanced

Phil,
Birthday is definitely something we're looking into for the next release. I believe we already can import Birthday into Community Builder, but just never got it done for JomSocial. When we have a solution, we'll definitely let you know. Hopefully, we'll be getting to this issue later this week or early next, but I can't guarantee the timeline.

Thanks,
Alex

Alex,
i look forward to this addition. Can you also confirm how does jfbconnect list facebook fields. e.g. if i had the permission for every field in facebook would they all show up in mapping. So i could assign them?

Thanks

Right now, we hard-code the available fields from Facebook into each release. Then, if you have them setup to be 'mapped' to a field in Joomla, JFBConnect will automatically request the proper permission from the user when they try to register.

In a future update, we're planning to make it so the Facebook fields can be updated without having to reinstall a new version. Facebook changes the names of fields and adds and removes some periodically, so our current system isn't as flexible as we'd like.. but still works most of the time.

Hope that helps,
Alex
