Topic-icon New user shows up as BANNED - wth "never logged in" as their status

This seems random and weird ... I occasionally will have a new user create an account by clicking on the Facebook connect button. Everything creates okay, it brings over everything including their status, avatar, ... everything (even updates the JomSocial stream). But if I click on their avatar and go to their profile it reports them as "banned" and "never logged in" (I logged in as super admin so I can see that).

Any idea why this might happen? Could it be a timeout issue or something were the person just got impatient during the process and clicked off the site before everything completed?

Site is: www.barkleyandpaws.com

Thanks!

Hey Mark,
a few question for you:
  • Do you have Joomla set up for User Activation
  • Are you using the multi-profiles options within JomSocial, and if so, are they set to "Requires Approval"

Yes ... I have Joomla set for "user activation"
I have Jomsocial set for Multiple Profiles but I don't have any additional profiles built at this time...

Thanks!

could it be possible those users didn't "activate" their users?

I guess that possible... I also guess I don't fully understand how the "login with Facebook" link works. If someone visits my site for the very first time and logs in with Facebook I assumed it created the new Joomla account automatically (which it does) and automatically activated them. Is that not the case?

yes, that is exactly the case. but since you set the system for User Activation, it still requires the user to activate his account - in other words, validate his email address, which is mainly to prevent spam registration with non-existing emails (or non-human users).

JFBConnect has a configuration option in the Configuration -> User Tab for "Skip Joomla User Activation:". When set to Yes, it will do what you mention above by creating and automatically logging the user in. If set to No, the user will have to activate their account like normal.

We recommend setting it to Yes since Facebook has already activated the email for the user. Some admins still like the activation process on-site.

I have the latest version of JFBConnect but I'm still running 2.2.x for JomSocial. Don't want to upgrade until 2.6 because I need notifications to work and I have a third party component that does that today.
