Hi Alex, I'm trying to get the invite module to work, but am running into some styling issues. After you select a person to invite then click to send the invitation, the pop-up appears but is cut off, right and bottom. If you have styled it with a narrower columns (2 x 368) it cuts off about half.

This is on www.unbridledrider.com

You still have an active username, AlexAndreae - I upped your credentials to Administrator.

BTW - when I downloaded and installed the latest, 4.1, after install it said something about the login module being out of date, but there was no newer one in the bundle.
Thx, Bob

Bob,
In the JFBConnect, the JFBCLogin module is no longer recommended. In that release (and going forward), we're including the SCLogin module, which works with both JFBConnect and JLinked. Simply switch to that.

Similarly, the JFBCInvite module is no longer included. The features from Facebook that was using were deprecated by Facebook, no longer supported, and will be fully removed (non-functional) in June. We replaced that with the new Requests features, which are a lot more powerful than the old JFBCInvite module. The only caveat is that you have to have an SSL cert for your site. For more information on the Request feature, see our recent blog post:
www.sourcecoast.com/blog/extensions/face...-requests-for-joomla

There's also a setup guide for the Request feature (still not fully finished, but mostly there):
www.sourcecoast.com/jfbconnect/docs/facebook-requests

Hope that helps. If you need help with the Invite module, we are still supporting it. Usually, what you mention can be fixed with some styling changes (some surrounding div likely have "overflow:hidden" set). Again though, we recommend using the Request module/tag instead.

Alex

So, we need to move on, the the new "Features" application. I checked with my client, she will approve a secure certificate which I'll have hostgator install, but she wants me to confirm that this will work with the cert.

Also, sorry, but performance. When testing Fan and Invite (and some other) I see some real performance issues. Sometimes it will take a few seconds to draw other times 10 seconds, etc. This makes me very cautious about implementing these things on a page like Home. I presume the performance issues are related to general network traffic and perhaps the regular banging on Facebook. Your thoughts/suggestions?

Bob,
I'm assuming you mean the Requests feature when you say the new "Features" application. Once the SSL cert is installed, you need to get your Facebook Canvas Page working.. basically, a way to show your site within Facebook. This requires adding a URL to your FB Application configuration page and checking settings in the Page Tab / Canvas config area of JFBConnect.

Once that's done, you can use Requests. The SSL certificate is the only additional expense or 'outside' requirement you should need.

As for performance, we agree, sometimes things can load slowly. Most of that is on Facebook's back, and there isn't much we can do about right now. However, the new Requests module does not load on-page, it uses a pop-up when clicked. That's definitely beneficial for speed. For the other social widgets, Facebook recently released HTML5 versions of them. We're just now testing them for speed (and other) improvements. If there are advantages, we'll be implementing browser detection to check if HTML5 is supported, and if so, use those widgets. Still early on, but we understand the problem, and are always looking on improvement to any area of JFBConnect we can find.

Hope that all helps,
Alex

The SCLogin module is installed with JFBConnect, like the system, user, and authentication plugins. If you installed 4.1 normally, it should already be there. If you can't find it though, the file is in the /admin/install/packages directory of the component zip file if you want to install manually.

Hope that helps,
Alex

Okay I understand, but I do have another question. With the previous JFBConnect Login and new SC Login, I was under the impression that if you use the regular Joomla Login option and log in successfully, that the module should show a "Reconnect" button by default. I want folks who don't have FB accounts or forget to use the Facebook option to see that visual reminder that they are not fully "connected".

Seems like their is/was some login plugin code that accomplished this as well.

Bob,
In the SCLogin parameters, there's a setting called "Show Connect Account Button(s)". Enable that, and the Connect button will show to users that haven't already connected their Joomla account to Facebook before.

Hope that helps, but if it's not what you're looking for, let me know.

Thanks,
Alex

Sort of... It is enabled.

www.unbridledrider.com/index.php?option=...le&id=144&Itemid=180

On my test site, www.jtest.us/jtest I see it there (right column lower login) and it works, but on www.unbridledrider.com, no dice. You login and it doesn't display. It is enabled on the Affiliates page, above link.

I also have a custom login module across the site top where I have added the code (I think) and it displays Login with Facebook, then fails to show the Reconnect function if you haven't logged in. Maybe this is a javascript problem, I don't know, not really my gig as you know.

I presume I am going to have to replace the plugin code as well with an sclogin version as some point?

I don't do this stuff regularly, I checked with Hostgator and they offer several types of SSL certs. They pointed me to: support.hostgator.com/articles/ssl-certi...-and-what-type-is-it.

Would it be the "Comodo Positive SSL" Domain validated?
