Good morning. We installed the new 4.1 JFBConnect www.voxpopuli.cc on our site. The site works pretty well with Chrome and Firefox but manifest problems during login / logout:

Chrome, in a few times, pressing the logout button, the account remains active and you get disconnected!
Wth MS IE 6 / 7 / 8 under Win XP SP3 and Windows 7, always appears image attached during login making it impossible to connect to the site.

I suppose it's a bug (or my error setting) because i have tried to connect account via 2 different PC plus one laptop using different browser and o.s., always with the same error. But even on your site www.sourcecoast.com, I have seen the same problem 2 times during the purchase of jfbc 4.1 with IE9 on Win 7!

Do you have suggestions?

Thanks in advance, A.T.

Andrea,
Plenty of suggestions, but no guaranteed fixes. First, the URL you posted above doesn't seem like a Joomla site, so I couldn't check out what was happening. Can you check the URL, or let us know where we could see JFBConnect on that site?

Suggestions:
* Try going to www.YOURSITE.com/components/com_jfbconne...sets/jfbcchannel.php
It should be a blank page. If you open the HTML, you'll see one Javascript tag loading a file from Facebook. That's normal. If you get a server error or other problem on that page, that's likely part of the problem. Fix it, or let us know the page, and we'll try to help you fix the problem.
* Start IE with no Add-Ons and see if that changes the behavior. For running without add-ons, see:
windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vist...th-internet-explorer
* Try the same thing for Firefox/Chrome. They each have different ways of disabling their addons.
* Try from a different location / Different connection to the internet. Some firewalls (within companies, generally) or even ISPs can try to block or slow communication to Facebook. If you can bring your laptop to a coffee house or some other location with a different internet connection and test there, that would help.

Let us know if anything helps. Some of the ideas above will just help narrow down the problem so that we can provide a more permanent solution, if available.

Thanks,
Alex

Hello Alex

I think it unlikely a problem depends on the configuration of the ISP as I have tried with 3 different networks: 1 high-speed UMTS network and 2 ADSL(in addition of different operators).

the path is as follows (for access to Joomla Home Page) www.voxpopuli.cc/vox/

I confirm also that vs. trying to login to. site via facebook I get a blank page at the link www.sourcecoast.com/components/com_jfbco...sets/jfbcchannel.php?..... (very large sequence of code ...) but then I clean all the way (without closing the IE screen) and leave only the path www.sourcecoast.com, after "Enter" send, logged into your site.

I confirm that IE with no Add-Ons does not solve the problem.

***
test at page www.voxpopuli.cc/vox/components/com_jfbc...sets/jfbcchannel.php produce an error: 500 Internal Server Error

The ISP question was just a question. If you've already tried other places, great. That rules that out.

Regarding the other questions I had, like I mentioned above, I can't hit the page below:
http://www.voxpopuli.cc/vox/components/com_jfbconnect/assets/jfbcchannel.php
Can you look into what would be preventing that page from loading, as it's crucial to the operation of JFBConnect / Facebook communication.

I just tried to register on your site through Facebook, and got a 500 Internal Server Error at:
http://www.voxpopuli.cc/vox/index.php?/component/option,com_jfbconnect/view,loginregister/
This is probably related to the above jfbcchannel file not being loaded, but can you tell me what SEF extension you're using? If you can, please go into it's configuration area and have it 'skip' URLs for JFBConnect. If you're not sure how to do this, once we know what extension you're using, we can probably give suggestions.

Finally, for the 500 error, that's usually a sign of a PHP error on the page (can be many other things though). Once you get the jfbcchannel file above working, and SEF disabled, if you're still getting the error, can you turn off GZip compression (if enabled) and turn error reporting to maximum in the Global configuration area? That should print out a error of what's happening, if it's a PHP problem, that will help us narrow things down.

Thanks,
Alex
