Hi,

Please see the attachments. I have done a print screen of all my settings.
The reveal page actually works fine for people who have not "liked" my site at www.facebook.com/pages/Play-Guitar-Singa...=app_214674098564273.
After liking they can see the page I want to let them see. You can try this yourself at :
www.facebook.com/pages/Play-Guitar-Singapore/177626548957052

Trouble is, as a user who has "liked" the site, everytime I access the page for the first time and click on the app "Free Tablature". The page brings me to :
www.play-guitar.sg
instead of the desired www.play-guitar.sg/index.php?option=com_...d=129&tmpl=component
This is very strange behaviour as nowwhere in my app info do I specify that I want the site to use the url www.play-guitar.sg

The 2nd time I click "Free tablature" though, the desired page appears.

Please help... thanks.

Pier.

Pier,
Looking into it to test.. but want to make sure of some things. In your Facebook Application, the "Page Tab URL" (and Secure Page Tab URL) are set to:

www.play-guitar.sg/index.php?option=com_...d=129&tmpl=component

Correct?

When I go to the FB Page (without Liking it), I'm actually getting a page timeout error. Even when I Like the FB Page, I get the same error. Are you seeing it at all? If not, I'm not sure if it's a JFBConnect or Joomla configuration issue that's causing a redirection loop (or something similar). If you can see the error, please try turning off any gzipping (in the global config of Joomla or any minimization plugins you may have) and turn Error Reporting to 'maximum'. If there's a PHP error, that can cause the non-loading error I'm seeing, but we'd need to know the error to diagnose the problem.

This webpage is not available
Google Chrome could not load the webpage because www.play-guitar.sg took too long to respond. The website may be down, or you may be experiencing issues with your Internet connection.

Hope that helps get started, but obviously, somethings wrong (even though we're both seeing different 'wrong' things).

Thanks,
Alex

Hi Alex,

I'm not seeing the error. Can you copy the exact link for me?
For secure link I actually put a 's' behind http... is that correct? Pardon my ignorance

Yes, that's correct. You have to have an SSL certificate installed for https to work though. I just tried to go to your live page (not through Facebook) and the non-https version is working fine, but the https version doesn't load for me at all. I get a generic error from Chrome or any other browser basically saying the page doesn't load at this page:
www.play-guitar.sg/

Let me know if you're seeing a different behavior,
Alex

One final note, if you don't have an SSL certificate, we have a pretty easy guide on how to get one. They're as cheap as $17 for 1 year or as low as about $10/year if you buy for a few years:

Hi Alex, so r you saying that the lack of a SSL cert is the reason I'm getting the strange behaviour?

Yes, that would definitely be the problem. If you have the https field filled in your application, but Facebook can't reach that page, it will throw an error. Facebook now requires all pages loaded in Page Tabs or Canvas areas to have a valid SSL certificate. There's nothing we can do about this.

The reason it may work for you without it, is if you're logged into Facebook with an admin of the application or if the app is in sandbox mode. Both of those cases are exceptions to the rule to allow testing the application before having to purchase a certificate.

Hope that helps,
Alex

That would work just fine and is used by a lot of our users. For your needs, you don't need to spend any 'extra' on a cert and just get the cheapest possible.

Keep us posted if you run into any issues,
Alex

Hi, I got the whole SSL thing sorted out and installed... but I'm still getting the same problem Alex.
Could you take a look again?

Now when I try to access this secure site : www.play-guitar.sg/index.php?option=com_...d=129&tmpl=component
It works... so I guess it's sorted out now and the link is ok.
