well, some more information that may help ...
i added the line to jfbcsystem.php as requested, doesn't change anything,
then i tried the following :
1/ loggod out of facebook via IE, reloaded the site www.davidvandyck.be/index.php, tried to login, i get the login pop up (!), and when i fill in my credentials, the popup disappears as it shouldn but i'm not logged in
2/ when i remain logged in in facebook via IE and i try to login to davidvandyck.be, i get a popup that disappears immediately, but i'm still NOT logged in
3/ changed the setting in joomla backend component => JFBC Configuration : Auto Login Facebook Users from NO tot YES
Now I can login through IE ...
Could it be that this setting prevents the login in facebook if set to NO ?

Webatelier,
Just to clarify a few things:
* It sounds like you're no longer getting the Javascript error, is that correct?
* Logging in through IE only is causing you problems still.. the Facebook part of it seems ok, but the logging into Joomla isn't working.

As to your statements above:
1) Everything sounds right here, except that you aren't logged into Joomla (obviously a problem).
2) The popup will always appear.. but if Facebook recognizes that the user is logged in, it will automatically close it's own pop-up. There's no way to prevent the 'quick' popup from appearing.
3) The AutoLogin Facebook Users setting shouldn't be required. If it is working with that though, it makes me think that there's another System plugin that may be conflicting with JFBConnect. Can you try:
* Re-ordering the JFBConnect System plugin to be ordered first (the lowest number of all of your plugins) and test. If that doesn't work, try it last (highest number of all system plugins).

Just so you know, I was just able to successfully login to your site through IE9 without any problems. I'm not sure how you have things configured now, but it seems to be working for me!

Thanks,
Alex

didn't know my english was THAT bad, ;-)
No, you got it all wrong, or I misexplained ...
In short : nothing works unless i turn 'autologin feature' in the backend of the JFBC component ON, with this on, everything works as expected in IE ...
I know the popup behaviour is normal ... changing the file as you requested didn't change anything ...

Webatelier,
Sorry for not getting back to you on this. I lost track of this issue.

Since it looks like "Automatically Log Facebook Users In" is currently enabled, I can't see the problem in action. Do you have a development site or other area I can test with where that setting is disabled? If not, can you disable it on the live site temporarily? If you don't want to do that, then I'd have to ask for admin credentials so I can go in there and turn it off to see the Javascript error in action. Without being able to recreate it, it's hard to figure out the cause.

Thanks,
Alex

Thanks for the credentials. I didn't see anything that should be causing the issue. The one odd thing I found is that if I try to login to your site without www, it works. If I log in with www.david..., it doesn't log me in.

I'm not sure what the cause is, but Facebook uses a special mechanism for Internet Explorer due to compatibility issues, and this seems to be causing a problem on your site. Do you have any redirections or anything else similar setup like that for redirecting URLs from www to non-www (or vice versa)? It's possible some of Facebook's authentication calls back to your site are getting redirected, which is causing the IE issues.

Hope that helps with some ideas, but if not, please let us know.

Thanks,
Alex

no i don't,
i took a peek at my dns records and everything seems allright,
i have a wilcard A record that points to my ip adress
*.davidvandyck.be A myipadress
so it shouldn't matter if you use the www prefix or not ... ?
apache mod_rewrite is ON, that shouldn't matter either ... any other ideas ... ?

No, www vs non-www shouldn't matter at all, that's why we're a little stumped.

Did you test and check that you can log in with non-www? I'd like to get confirmation, as that will help narrow things down a little.

Thanks,
Alex
