Hello Alex,

How shall I configure the JFBConnect component so that a visitor to create a joomla user account to my site with a single-click registration and his account details to be filled in automatically with his facebook username, email & password details etc (I don't want the fb_user id)? As per my current configuration, when a user tries to login for first time to my site, he must pass the registration process shown hereunder. Can I avoid this step? Please also note that I am using the tags {JFBCLogin} to publish the JFBConnect button.

Yes, you can avoid that step and have the user's account automatically created for them by changing the "User Creation" setting in JFBConnect to "Facebook User Only". This will automatically create the user's account with a username of fb_12345, their email address, but no password. In the future, this user can only login using their Facebook credentials.

There are no other things to configure for the 1-click registration. However, since it's one-click, please note that the username is automatically generated. If you want to come up with a different username scheme than fb_userid, we can help you, but each user's username on your site must be unique, so just using FirstName_LastName does not work.

Hope that helps!

Hi Alex,

I follow your instructions (changing the "User Creation" setting in JFBConnect to "Facebook User Only") but now I get the below error message:

"There was a problem connecting your Facebook account to this site."

It creates the new user but - for example - does not import the facebook avatar pic to Kunena's profile.

Why I get this error message?

That can happen for a few reasons. Can you try the following:
1) Temporarily disable the Kunena plugin and let us know if the error goes away. If so, let us know what version of Kunena you're using
2) If the Facebook user already has an account on your site (created through Joomla) and is using the same email address as your Facebook account, enable the "Automatically link users by Email" setting. This should generally be enabled, as it makes registration go smoother.

Let us know what you find, and we'll help you get to the bottom of the issue.

Thanks!

1) I disabled the Kunena plugin but the problem remains. I have installed the Kunena 1.6.3 .

2) I had already enabled the "Automatically link users by Email".

Sorry for the delay. Can you post (or Private Message) me the url to your site? I may need super admin credentials as well, if I can't figure it out from looking at the front end. Many issues, we don't need them though, so we'll see.

We'll get you going soon!

Just wanted to check in again to see if there was anything we can help with on this. From the description above, I'm unable to determine the problem and will need to see the site. If you're still having issues, we'll get you going!
