If you grab the 3.2.1 version of the module, it has the exact same logic as 3.1.x to automatically generate the XID. Therefore, just set the "Use Legacy Mode" parameter and leave the href parameter blank. That should work fine for you.

If not, let us know. Actually, either way, let us know! Want to make sure we get you all set up!

Yes, I used 3.2.1 and set it to 'Legacy Mode' but the page remains empty. I tried to use he HREF and that brings back the comments module, but without the old comments.

Is there an other way to retrieve the old comments? And / or a way to generate the XID myself?
Here is a link that I found that is related to this:

We're using the new "migrated=1" method and specifying a XID, which is what's in the thread you link to. This should be pulling in your old comments from that XID using the newer Comment widget.

Again, the migrated method, as of 11pm last night, was broken by an update to Facebook's Javascript library. We're still seeing this as not working, and the forum posts I linked to above are stating the same thing. Until Facebook fixes this (which there is a bug report already filed), there isn't much we can do.

Can you post the page that you're trying this on (or Private Message it to us)? I can check, at least, that our output HTML is correct and, when Facebook fixes their Javascript library, that it should work as expected.

I just went live very recently... but i noticed this too. I think i will operate in "non-legacy mode" and just have a fresh start of it. Thank you for being responsive though and that I was able to find an answer to what happened in this forum. That is the type of support I expect from a paid subscription service!

Wes,
No problem. We take support very seriously, and apologize for the inconvenience this has caused.

Should you run into anything else, let us know. We're hoping this is the last of Facebook's backward-incompatible changes. They've done it in the past, but it's become much less frequent as they've standardized on quite a few things.. so it should be smooth sailing from here.... we hope :)

Best of luck, and thanks for your subscription!

I know this is blunt, where do it get the files to upgrade and solve this problem?

Blunt is fine.

In the thread above is a link to an updated JFBCComment module, version 3.2.1:
* This is now included in the Social Modules zip *

If you can specify how you're including the Comments on your page, if it's not the Comment module, we can help you determine the best way to fix the issue.

Again, right now, there is a bug with the old XID based comment widget. This is not related to JFBConnect and was introduced by Facebook itself last night. The bug report for this issues is:
bugs.developers.facebook.net/show_bug.cgi?id=16484

We recommend moving away from the XID approach on as many pages as you can as Facebook may drop support for this method at any point in the future. At that point, all comments on the older style modules will be lost.

Hope this helps, and good luck,
Alex

I am not using the content module. So I will try this on legacy mode. I will keep you posted, thanks!

Great support indeed. I will wait for Facebook to fix their widget. Thanks again Alex.

Thanks for the detailed info. Too bad, but that's how things go w/ FB, I guess ... I'm using the content-plugin, which formerly auto-generated the XID's. My site hadn't been online too long, so I haven't lost too much. Greetings!
